Can u do it?

Postby Pipes on Tue Oct 31, 2006 5:15 am

1. Since two players (especially PGs) stick while being close (can't deny big realism of that), I find crossovers etc. useless. I can't perform any trick moves but spin move, effectively. I always run on my opponent. U got same problem?

2. I hardly can do the lay up without being fouled or just pushed (i don't hit either in that case). It happens even in a fast break. It takes away both beautifulness and efectivness of the fast break 'n' a game in general, if every lay up I try become awful. Do I just have to get used to it?

3. I read a lotta PGs being heroes in tha game. I mean, u can do everything wit u're PG. I don't get it. While havin the problem discribed in point 1. I hardly can do anything with a PG but taking threepointers 'n' playin in-and-out tactic.

4. Do u use offensive playbook in u're game? If yes, what tactics? And do u use other defensive tactics other than man-to-man? What?

to answer number 4 Pipes: it depends on what team you're using, i use the default playbook, and honestly, pick and roll and post up are stellar plays if you have one good guard and one semi decent big man...

- just do some more spin moves. hehe. crossovers also work.

2. I hardly can do the lay up without being fouled or just pushed (i don't hit either in that case). It happens even in a fast break. It takes away both beautifulness and efectivness of the fast break 'n' a game in general, if every lay up I try become awful. Do I just have to get used to it?
- (try using phoenix and you'll see the power of fast breaks.) i use SA. and i only shoot layups on fastbreaks if my player is really ahead of the defender. if i see that the defender is in front or side by side with my player, i just set up for half court plays. fastbreaks are very different in 06 and 07. but i like the alley-oops this year, although not easy to use.. it is more realistic.

3. I read a lotta PGs being heroes in tha game. I mean, u can do everything wit u're PG. I don't get it. While havin the problem discribed in point 1. I hardly can do anything with a PG but taking threepointers 'n' playin in-and-out tactic.
- the kobe bryant point guards are CPU and not controlled by you.

4. Do u use offensive playbook in u're game? If yes, what tactics? And do u use other defensive tactics other than man-to-man? What?
- offensive: default, defensive: man to man, double team, 1-3-1 zone

1. It's good. Atleast it's not as easy to get by your defenders as previous years. And when I control a good shooter, I use the step back move quite often and take a jumper, sometimes a fadeaway.

2. sometims they call even an offensive foul, it's ridiculous...
3. i can't use my PG but the other team's PG always play like a hero.
4. i use some defensive tactics like 2-3 zone, half court trap etc.

Tapping down on the right analog will allow your player to step back, creating space for a jumpshot.

wow.. didn't know how to do that kind of stepback. what i do is i do a prohop and move the directional button away from the basket. it was hard to do! i thought that was the stepback but you can't dribble the ball afterwards, what do you call that move? prohop backwards? tnx. :D

I don't think it has a specific name. It's just a variation of a jump-stop.
