What a cheap shot

Postby Tim*The King*Duncan on Tue Oct 24, 2006 11:57 pm

Since 04... I've been coming across a bunch of cheap moves... like the fastbreak corner 3 pointer in 04 or the running in the lane with your PF and fading to the side shot in 05. And the unbelievable amount of moves in 06 (too many to mention)

Here's my quick collection of cheap shots in 07

(Please use moderately) :D

1. Of course the superstar moves
a) Hold down on the right analog with
insidescorers (star or superstar)
Outside scorers (star or superstar)

2. The step back - Works especially well with quick forwards. Example: You pass the ball to Marion on the elbow. He hits the triple threat position. Isolate. Do your little pump fakes and jab steps for effect. Then step back and pull up for the jumper.
Slow Forwards won't even try to defend. Quicker / higher rated forwards will contest in vain. Works with quick guards too. Say Farmar vs. Harris.

3. THE PUMP FAKE!!!
I believe this is the most effective way to create space in 07. With any player, drive to the paint and as soon as you start getting crowded, pumpfake. It will knock even shaq out of the way, then lay up.

Works well with 3 point shooters too. Hit a couple of 3's and the CPU defender will start playing up on you. Then when you run to the 3 line, pumpfake and it will knock your defender back then pull up.

Cheap Shot.

any others that arn't star or superstar moves?

Tim what level are you playing on? also about the cpu falling for the pump fake....put the CPU fakeout discipline slider up to 100, they'll never fall for it again

Playin' on Superstar.
It is at 100.
And they don't fall for the pump fake... the pump fake knocks em back.
I'm sorry if what I wrote wasn't clear... "Knocks em' BACK."

:D :o

I had the 'buying for the fake' scenario a couple of times, with the slider set to 80. Carter went in a couple of times on Szczerbiak.

exactly, not at 100 ;-) that would be 20% of the time if carter drove in a couple of times during a game

Well, Carter got the ball when still in motion, and then I just faked right off at ball receipt and Wally bought for it. Once in a while all the players will do that in such scenarios, even T-Mac, Iverson, etc...
