'07 vs. '06

Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

'07 vs. '06

Postby ycsj29801 on Sun Oct 15, 2006 4:58 am

Hey everyone. I've done a search and found nothing in regards to this so forgive me if it's already been discussed.

I have some questions about '07 in comparison to '06 which I feel I should ask that might help myself (and others) decide if this game is worth purchasing.

Answers to any of these would be apprecieated.

Is the offensive rebounding fixed?
Does this game have 73 player ratings? Or was that only next gen?
Does Primacy still randomly change in franchise mode?
Are the menus and font sizes still to large?
Does the game finally show averages instead of just totals in player files?
Of all the bugs that have been well documented, do you think that the upcoming patch will solve most of them?

Thank you to anyone who responds for your time.

Ok, just a few answers from me.

1. Yes, Offensive boards account for around 25% of total rebounds. Setting the sliders to 25-75 seems to be dead-on.
2. Not on PC, the only new rating is Clutch. Many of the next-gen ratings are specific to situations that don't happen on PC version.
3. I haven't had time to try Franchise, but Primacy was recalculated for edited players, so I assume yes.
4. Probably, I'm so used to the big font by now I don't notice. A lot of other PC games, even those that are PC exclusive, tend to use large fonts on their menus.
5. Haven't checked yet.
6. Not everything can be addressed in a small downloadable patch, also not everything is a bug. Player substitution seems to be a given, anything else is still a big question mark.

Thanks for the reply.

If 07 can merely be slightly better than 06 along with the primacy and offensive rebounds fixed I'll likely end up buying it. I'll wait till the patch comes out and everyones reaction here about it before making that decision though. I'm really looking for any reason to buy this game at the moment, here's hoping EA's patch will give enough for me to do so.

If the substition bug is fixed, 07 is definitely the better version.

Primacy bug is still there. Jermaine O'Neal got injured for me and his Primacy went down to 6.

Is stuff like the X factor and chemistry any good? Is trading any better this year?

Trading is better, I traded Penny Hardaway to the Celtics for a 2nd round pick.
I don't play the games so I dont know about the X factor that much. Chemistry is cool I guess.

At least trades happen in this game! (Y)

The gameplay is a lot more improved... with the PG issue and the fatigue fixed, this would be one of the better Live games.

I've seen Joe Johnson traded for Kenyon Martin (it paid off like 3 years later with Kenyon making all-star game and 2nd NBA team)
Channing Frye for Keyon Dooling (a year after Frye was top mvp candidate for a month)
Ron Artest for Chauncey Billups (Pistons came runner-up in the finals the next year)
And a whole lot of other weird shit, and it's only 2009 in my simming.

I should make a thread.

I think Live 07 it's like playing Live 06 with a broken gamepad.

Team chemistry is very unique but I haven't played enough games to determine whether or not it actually impacts the game as much as it is supposed to.

The X-Factor feature is another nice touch, but as with the FSS you're going to need a gamepad if you really want to take advantage of it. Using FSS with your keyboard is just such a pain in the anal area.
