NBA LIVE NEXT GEN

Postby redmann_5 on Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:22 am

Ok, post any questions you have about the 360 version and I will try my best to answer everything.

I have an Xbox 360 setup with a 720 p hdtv which will allow me to answer questions about graphics and gameplay.

I work from 7 am to 7pm though so please give me time to answer your questions.

One thing I can tell you for starters is that the game is a lot different than the current gen versions. (Ps2,Xbox).
So yeah, ask away.

I have the game on pre order (not yet released in australia). Is there ANY reason for me not to switch the pre order over to gears of war?

Probably if you lived in the middle of fucking nowhere and you had a broadband internet connection and a Windows 95 computer, you could use the ESPN Integration thing for news on the real world of basketball.

Other than that, a lot of people won't give any reasons to keep the game on pre order.

You havent played it yet obviously. I'm looking for some kind of reason to keep it on order, although I'd love to see the poor blokes face at eb when i say i want to cancell the pre order becuase its shit, without me even playing the game.

MY thoughts

Postby redmann_5 on Sat Sep 30, 2006 4:02 pm

Don't be to quick to do that. Honestly, I think that Gamespot's review is stupid. Maybe the guy who reviewed that game just doesn't know how to play the game!!??! Unresponsive controls? Shut up! I played the game for 3 hours straight and let me tell you, it's so easy to execute the moves!
The cpu AI is impressive, IMHO. I love the way the CPU tries to emulate that team that you have it playing. The Suns go for the fast break, Spurs play half court. The subs bug is not an issue on this version.. I REPEAT!!!!! THERE IS NO SUBS BUG IN THE NEXT GEN VERSION.
Final scores are realistic and you have to work hard for baskets.

The game's not perfect.. I'll admit that, but I've talked to at least 5 other people (who were NBA 2k fans by the way) who thought that the next Gen version of the game was worth purchasing. I can't say the same for the current gen ones but NBA LIVE 07 next gen gets an 8/10 from me.

NOTE: I used to be an NBA 2k fan myself, having preferred to have NBA 2k1, 2k2, 2k3 and 2k6 over their live counterparts, but there's something about Live 07 next gen that just makes me feel like I'm somehow part of the real thing.

Oh and by the way, all this trash talk about Live 07 makes people forget how shitty the free throw system and the AI of 2k7 is!!!!!!!!!! IT's really damn frustrating to see players just staring at you and wasting clock and pretty much frustrating to try and hit a freethrow with steve nash, who is the top free throw shooter in real life.

THUMBS UP FOR LIVE NEXT GEN!

Oh yeah one more thing. The stuff you can do during timeouts add another strategic element to the game. The offensive plays are not the same as the ones in the current gen version. Next gen has triangle, motion, flex etc.
Timeouts are also divided into 1 min and 20 sec timeouts. Yes, timeouts are actually timed! :) You can do subs, change your strategy, set defensive assignments during the timeout and can choose to take full advantage of the alloted time or get back on the court once you're done.
A little menu also comes up during dead ball situations. I will update you folks about the contents of the menu.

Too late for me. I've already changed my pre-order to 2k7.
Will probably pick this up 2nd hand though...my guess is a lot of people will return it so i can snatch it up for $60. :)

I dont believe the next gen version (if its as good as you say) should let EA off the hook.

The producers claimed that the teams collaborated to make sure the current gen and next gen versions were almost the same.
I guess when the next gen team introduced the subs code they forgot to mention it at the meeting. ;)

Personally, I have played live since the start. I'll buy on PC - IF there is a patch released.
But for now, my 360 gets 2k7.

P.S. Thanks for letting us all know though. ;)

redmann 5.. I agree with what ur saying .. I think live deserves a good score also.. If I had to i'll give it an 8 also.. the defensive AI in this game is great, you will not be blowing past ur defender all the time.. 8-)

Hey redmann or slim, I'm new to posting in this forum so excuse me if I make a mistake. I am looking to get live 07 on Xbox 360 next month (I live in the UK). Do you know if the create-a-player on the next gen is better than last year and is it unlimited create-a-player slots?

I'd like to see one of you or anyone here to give a full, long review of NBA Live 07 for 360, just to know it's real upsides and downsides and breakdown of the game. Steady framerate?

Hi.
I'm from Germany.
Your posts(redmann_5) gave my freinds and me the hope back(that the game is ok)
But we can't believe it 100%, only 80%.
Could you record a movie (one 12minute quarter) to show us,that there is no sub bug.
I would like SIxers vs Bulls. (u can controll one team).
that would be very nic of you.

(sorry,for my bad englisch)

Yes, redman already wrote it, but we(my friendsand me) want to be 100% sure that it's not there.
Redman could also be a EA Producer who wants us to buy the game.(could be, i didn't write is)

As far as I've read, next gen version doesn't have the same problems as current gen has (namely bugs), but it has a lot of flaws of its own. Just buy 2k7 and save yourself some trouble.

LOL@ ea producer who wants us to buy the game. To tell you honestly, I'm an NBA 2k fan.. NBa 2k1, 2, 3 and 6 to be exact. I got both 2k7 and Live 07 for the 360 and believe that Live 07 is a lot better for all reasons I mentioned above.
I can't provide a video of the no subs bug but I promise you that it's not on the next gen version, as evidenced by bench people averaging 14 to 15 mins per game (and a "7th man" averaging around 8 at times).

I feel bad for people who don't have the next gen version. EA really screwed you guys up. The next gen version is a different story though. I'm so happy I got it.

7.3 is solid for a bug-riddled game.

Does anyone feel bullied into going out and buying an xbox 360? It just feels like EA are phaseing out the current gen abit to quickly.

Bugged game or EA's plan?

It would be an interesting theory, but the next version reportedly sucks just as much as current gen does. Basically, you're right, they're unintentionally forcing us to buy the X-Box 360, but not to play Live 07 next gen, but 2k7.

I played Live 07 on Xbox 360 and simmed to the end of the season to make sure the off-season was free of bugs. I don't know if you want to call this a bug or bull, but I went to sign someone (forget who) for about 2.5M and I was over the cap, and there was no MLE for me to sign him!!! Whats up with that???
