Superstar/Star/X-Factor

Mon Sep 11, 2006 1:43 pm

I just have 3 questions about the new "superstar" system.

1. Will these ranks be decided by stats like they were last year? Just this year there would be 3 different levels of stats.

2. I was also wondering just how many "star" or "x-factors we will be seeing (how good must the player be).
For an example, going through the toronto raptors, would this be a fair breakdown:

Nesterovic - inside stopper(star)
Bosh - inside scorer(superstar), inside stopper(star)
Ford - playmaker(superstar), outside scorer(star)
Peterson - shooter(star), outside scorer(star), outside stopper(star)
A. Parker - highflyer(star), outside scorer(star)
F. Jones - highflyer(star)
Calderon - playmaker(star)
Bargnani - shooter(x-factor)

3. Is there only allowed 1 x-factor per team? And can a player be a superstar in 1 category as well as x-factor in another?

Thanks for any replies

Mon Sep 11, 2006 1:52 pm

1. Yes

2. From what I saw, teams don't have that many players with FSS abilities, Star or Superstar. No rookies will have FSS moves by default.

3. I think it's only one per team, at least by default it is. You might be able to stockpile X-Factor players though. And no, FSS players cannot be X-Factor players; X-Factor isn't another level of FSS, they are players who can gain FSS abilities temporarily if they are kept in the offense throughout the game. They also tend to be players who can develop to have Star FSS abilities (if they're young enough).

Mon Sep 11, 2006 1:59 pm

i don't really think that there will be that many star players.
for example, only FSS in toronto would be:

Bosh - Inside scorer(star)
Ford - Playmaker(star)
Peterson- Shooter(star)
F. Jones - Highflyer(star)

one would think that the superstar levels are only granted to really dominant players in each category. otherwise the game would become a FSS move feast imo... but my guess is as good as yours.

Mon Sep 11, 2006 2:03 pm

Thanks andrew. And I tend to agree with your lineup Voxel, I was just throwing that one out there. But I think if anyone can be superstar I.Scorer, Bosh can.

Tue Sep 12, 2006 8:44 pm

i wuda thought bosh was a power player... wasn't he a power player on 06?

Tue Sep 12, 2006 8:58 pm

nope, he was inside stopper and scorer.

Wed Sep 13, 2006 2:57 am

Andrew, so if we trade our x-factor player to the other team,
we will not have another x-factor unless a player in my team develop into one?

Wed Sep 13, 2006 7:25 pm

I think that's how it's going to work.

Wed Sep 13, 2006 7:30 pm

will the x-factor player that was traded be the x factor for the team he was traded to ???

Wed Sep 13, 2006 7:40 pm

Most likely. I didn't try trading any X-Factor players so I'm not 100% sure on that though.

Thu Sep 14, 2006 1:08 pm

when did you play the game

it is sticky

How many x-factors are per team? Because i saw a video that showed Deng as the X-factor, and also seen another video where Nocioni was one. But the video showed Larry Hughes too, he is only good enough to be an X-factor???? They also showed, Horry, Damon Stoudamire, Deng, Boykins, Kevin Martin, and McCants.

i think there is no superstar in toronto raptors only a star which is bosh, and i hope ea sports have understood the meaning of what a superstar is as there are only a few of them in the league right now. players who will be classified as superstars should be;

pg - arenas/nash/kidd/billups
sg - kobe/iverson/carter/wade/allen
sf - pierce/lebron/t-mac/marion/anthony/artest
pf - garnett/duncan/nowitzki/stoudemire/howard
c - shaq/yao/wallace

23 out of a total of over 400 players

players who should be classified as stars;

pg - bibby/ridnour/paul/parker/hinrich/baron/terry/marbury
sg - ginobili/redd/davis/hamilton/richardson/gordon/francis/iguodala
sf - lewis/jefferson/prince/maggette/kirilenko
pf - jamison/martin/rasheed/brand/gasol/bosh/o'neal/webber
c - miller

30 out of a total of over 400 players

Sat Sep 16, 2006 10:47 am

i don't think marbury will be a star player, more like a superstar... and baron, bibby and hinrich wil al hav superstar moves

The video I saw had Larry Hughes as a star outside stopper (now a lock symbol)

I don't see how you have bosh and brand as stars, with Howard as superstar. He is really athletic and stuff but does not have great offensive skills to put the ball in the basket like Bosh and Brand do.

hmmm maybe he refered to him as a power superstar, but to me at least brand is at the superstar inside scorer level. not too sure about bosh though, haven't seen enough toronto games.

I was under the impression it was one per team but that's obviously not the case. I didn't notice Deng was an X-Factor player at the Community Day, I only saw Nocioni listed as one.

maybe you select them like you selected the freestyle superstar types in rosters last year, you select your x-factor player out of the players elligible on your roster

not really goin act like a homer or make an argument,,but im sorry a power foreward who averages 23 points shootin 50 percent from the field while doin it,,gettin to the freethrow line at an average of 8 times a gam while shootin 80 percent while doin it deserves to be a superstar inside scorer

jus sayin :D

Sun Sep 17, 2006 3:26 am

Yea Bosh probably should be a inside scorer superstar, especially if he keeps getting better. But to whoever thought Bosh should be a power player...

Peja Stojakovich doesn't get any love?

Kirilenko should be a Superstar just look at the impact he makes on that team despite being an all star 2wice.

O yea and can anyone tell me if this sounds right for KB8:

Shooter(SuperStar)
Outside Scorer(Superstar. :!: )
Inside Scorer(Superstar)
Playmaker(Star)
Highflyer(Superstar)

Outside Stopper(SUPERSTAR)
Inside Superstar(Star)

Would this sound right

What? Peja Stojakovic and Sam Cassell don't get any love?

Kirilenko should be a Superstar look at the Impact he makes on that team and how he carries them

And can ANYONE tell me if this sound right for Kobe:

Shooter(Superstar)
Playmaker(Star)
Outside Scorer(Superstar :!: )
Inside Scorer(Superstar)
Highflyer(Superstar)

Outside Stopper(Superstar)
Inside Stopper(Superstar)

peja is lost for nearly 2 seasons now and kirilenko is too fragile to be a consistent superstar imho,
kobe's fss abilities u have written are ok, except the inside stopper part, he can't even be a star in that

Define how Peja was "lost" for nearly 2 seasons. In his last stint as a Sacramento King, a period in which he was struggling, he still shot 40.3% from beyond the arc. In his last bit of the season with the Pacers, he shot 46.3% from three. I would hardly call that "lost" in terms of being a shooter. An average of 43% from beyond the arc is good enough for me to call a Superstar Shooter.

Also, despite Kirilenko being injury-prone, he still has the skill set to be multiple Freestyle Superstars. The ratings will be able to work out how often he'll get injuried in the game.

As for Kobe's FSS abilities, I'm not sure about him being a Playmaker. Sure he averaged around 4.5 assists this season, but when was the last time you saw Kobe do a behind the back pass, or something fancy in terms of passing? Also, Superstar Inside Stopper? Please. Kobe averaged .38 blocks this season. Sure, he can get up there and block a few shots here and there because of his athleticism, but that's about it for Kobe in terms of shotblocking. I'd also tone down the Shooter FSS to a Star level.
