No more "at guard #"

I cant stand with the rookies and all this where they wont say the names of the players. It gets really annoying. And with create a player, have names premade that are ready to be said.

Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:27 am

yeah its been done. there are names for generated rookies that the announcers and people can read

Seems that will be the case this year. More details can be found (cheap plug) in my Community Day recap. (end cheap plug)

Yes, it's really anoying to hear the comentators not saying the names of the players..But as far as I can remember, names are said even if the player was just created..I think it was in NBA live 98 especially if the names are common american names like robinsons, or smith....

Correct, though it hasn't been a feature in recent Lives. However, NBA Live 07 has over 500 surnames that will be called for created and generated players.

Fri Sep 15, 2006 3:45 pm

will it just be nba players' nicknames or will they add more?

Fri Sep 15, 2006 4:11 pm

Nah its surnames. Andrew, Im guessing they will be names that are already used in the game for past - present players, like in other games?

Fri Sep 15, 2006 5:18 pm

damn i mean surnames

That's right, plus a few producers names thrown in there as Easter eggs.

Haha. Yes! Thank god for Grant Hill

Sat Sep 16, 2006 5:19 pm

damn i hope that there was a Fitzgerald

Sat Sep 16, 2006 5:20 pm

I dont think so, I cant think of one anyway

Sat Sep 16, 2006 5:35 pm

It's times like this I wish Tim Begley had made the league. :(

Sat Sep 16, 2006 5:40 pm

You should of requested it while you were there  So does the PA announcer say it, the commentator, or both?

Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:27 pm

There r progs creating virtual speech by given letters. If you could add such a thing in the game while creating a player, using the speech characteristics of the commentator in order to sound autenticaly, the user could choose whatever he wants for a name of the player, even his own, which would make the exp simply astonishing :D

like microsoft sam! that thing goes off in IT class

Uhuh!..

Well, maybe they'r also thinking of bigger things like the capability of the computer to handle such heavy formats to be added in the game...For those not so powerful computers, it might be hard to run the game if your pc cannot initiate it to begin with...

But it's gonna be totally cool to have a modified voice creation for player names and especially nicks for created star players right!...

Sun Sep 24, 2006 8:12 pm

Andrew, I have a question. Would this work?

Create Michael Jordan, add his ratings, cyberface, appearance and everything.

When I set his name as Jordan will announcers/commentators say his name? I can't think of any NBA Legends with the last name Jordan that would be in the Legend Pool, and there are no current NBA players with the last name Jordan, but would coach Eddie Jordan work?

Sun Sep 24, 2006 8:36 pm

It seems likely they have recorded audio for the surname Jordan for use with created players, in which case it would be feasible.

Well, I think so...

Tue Sep 26, 2006 11:52 pm

I mean who wouldn't know the biggest legend ever in the national basketball?..Maybe when they were creating the nba live the first name that would actually come into their minds would be michael's...
