HISTORIC DINASTY MODE!!!!! PLEASE READ AND COMMENT!

Postby FASJ on Thu Aug 10, 2006 6:40 am

Wow, nobody posted this here... first, hi to all, i´m new here... been a fan since 1995... but i´m very down on live lately. One of the aspects that i think could use a little work is the dinasty mode.

When i first heard of dinasty, i thought it was something different. Back in 2000 a friend of mine gave some misleading info, and after that i didn´t read much. Until i played live 2002 (i think) i thought dinasty was a real hoops fan dream.

According to my misleading information, you could start a dinasty in a given year. Lets say 1960. and then build your dinasty from that point.

Turns out i had a big disapointment when i found out that dinasty mode had little difference to the multiple season mode. I couldn´t see myself playing with “numer 45” or “number 87”. A bunch of generic players that take a lot away from the gameplay. Definately not fun. 5 or 6 years its fun, but after every known player is gone, its not fun anymore.

But then after that i´ve always waited for an NBA agreement with the players union to make that possible.

Now with the power of PS3 and xbox360 i think my dream is possible. Imagine starting with the celtics or the knicks in 1946, playing in small arenas, without the 3pt line... then playing with cousy, russell, havlicek, bird... you know, reliving history and making a few changes to rewrite that history... (imagine being the blazers in 1984 with the 2nd pick in the draft...).

That would be a dream... changing arenas, drafting players that you know only by history... to me this would be the ultimate tribute to the history of basketball and also the most amazing feature a hoops game could have...

I have lots of ideias for this mode, lots of options and stuff... would be cool to see if you guys are interested in including this in the wishlist for live ´08. Anybody liked the idea???
Lets discuss this...

Ps: (i really think this is possible with agreements with both the basketball hall of fame and the players association... even if they don´t get all the players in history, 80 or 90% would already be cool...)

sorry if something is wrong, english is not my main language

Welcome to the boards. I like your idea, and you are right about a deal with the retired players union to get this even avaliable. But is that a legitimate excuse anymore? Surely they could make "player number 23" for the rosters, and geeky sites like this one could release a patch with the players name. Hey if NCAA football can make money by doing the same with the player names, why can't live? Seriously.

But What I'd really want is to have an all time season. Each team has its all time lineup. SO the Lakers would have Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Shaq, Worthy, West, Baylor etc, and you'd go up against the celtics with Russell, Bird, Peirce, or the Bulls with Pippen, Jordan, Artis Gilmore or the pistons with Ben Wallace, Iisah, Rodman. Each game would mean somthing and a treuly great battle.

I've actually got some more info on the feasibility of stuff like this, which I'll share in my community day report (probably coming tonight, since I'm right back to work tomorrow).

well, after reading your report, it seems like the guys at EA think about that. they know it would be a big feature in the series.

they have lots of legends already. nba 2k3 i think had some all time teams, so they feature the likes of sikma and fred brown in seattle... now madden has 200+ legends to unlock.

whay i´m trying to say is, as hard as it looks, it can be done. depends on their budget. they could start out by, lets say 1995. its a bit easier to have the players from 1995 thru 2007. with agreements with the hall of fame and the retired union, plus the legends they already have, the core would be feasible...

i look foward to this in the live 08 wishlist. i think we can push EA to inovate on this (Y)

if you have more info, feel free to share with us :D

Actually, it's unhighly unlikely at best. As you can see from the version of NBA Live 95 that was included with NBA Live 06 on the PS2, they can't include players who aren't in the league anymore. Unfortunately the idea isn't feasible at this time and probably won't be anytime soon, which is a shame because it would be awesome.
