Third Generation Engine, Good or Bad

Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Do you like the fact that EA will be using the same game engine as 2005 and 06?

Third Generation Engine, Good or Bad

Postby JaoSming on Tue Aug 08, 2006 4:02 am

For PC Users:

Assuming that EA is using the same game engine as 2005 and 06, and also assuming that the file types will be the same and interchangable. Do you think it is a good thing that EA is using the same engine, with basically the same graphics, gameplay, and features?

We all have a great headstart on 07 patching; courts, jerseys, cyberfaces, everything that has been done in 06 will most likely be easy to convert to 07, but without a new engine, we will most likely not get facial expressions, bench reactions, better ball physics, skating, ect ect ect.

What's your opinion on this?

Like you said, it's good for the patchers.

But I think that if they used a new engine for it, the patchers would not have to do as much (for lighting and sweat patches) since the game should already look great.

Of course, they would probably have to start from scratch to add the cyberfaces, courts, jerseys, and other things, but I would be satisfied with just the game and no patches for a while.

There needs to be a new option called "Good for some reason, and bad for other reasons." lol

I thought of the worst possible thing that could happen to me; and I think it would be if EA were to incorperate a in-game court editor like the Tony Hawk Series. yes it would rule, and yes it would be really easy to use...but I pride myself on my originality, and court patching is a fun hobby of mine. If I were to lose it I wouldn't even buy the new NBA Live's (well I would, but I'd never play them)

Think what would happen if EA offered daily roster updates, all legends, a court editor, a stadium editor, owner mode, photo-realistic jerseys, every player has a cyberface, NBDL teams, National Teams (like FIFA), custom soundtracks, custom backgrounds and a customizable aiact (or dunkpacks like this year); but in return made the game unpatchable... Yes it would be perfect, everyone here would love it, and I would pay 100 bucks for it, but there would be no fun when the game gets old. And dont say that a perfect game gets old, because everyone still plays Grand Theft Auto San Andreas....but not as much or with as much enthusiasm as when they first bought it.

I haven't even completed a game in NBA Live 06 since I stopped doing my Celtics Street Dynasty.....but the Live 06 CD has remained in my computer since I bought it.
Opinions are my own.

But then everyone would vote for that.
