Destiny rating in trades

Postby Cable on Fri Aug 04, 2006 8:14 am

I know I'm late with this, but I did some searching and didn't find this suggested anywhere;

For 07, the Destiny rating should be a factor in trades, and should then also not be hidden. In the NHL series, the Potential rating is a huge factor in making a trade. This trade:

Player A - 75 overall, 60 Potential
for
Player B - 71 overall, 90 Potential

would almost never happen. Teams don't want to give up players with the Potential to become great. This would also be helpful when you're making a playoff run; you could trade some players with high Destiny for some older, but more talented players to help immediately. It would also prevent you from trading all your old players for younger ones with equal overall but who will become loads better.

Sound good?

That sounds excellent. It sounds like exactly the kind of Trade Logic we need in the LIVE series. This could also solve the draft pick trading issue. If they assigned the estimated overall and destiny of the draft-pick according to the Mock Draft feature, the draft picks would have a tangeble value to them.

I don't know about the draft pick thing you suggested, but it should be easy to trade players with high Destiny for draft picks seeing as the point of a draft pick is to get a young player with potential.

I agree completely, since that would be an extra layer of logic to compensate for small differences in the overall ratings. As you pointed out, a lot of GMs would be comfortable trading an aging player for a young player who's almost as good and has the potential to be even better. It shouldn't be open and shut since there'd be other factors the CPU would consider but it would great if it was feasible in the first place.

Hey, that's quite a good idea! :o

And maybe, to add a sense of realism, you don't actually know the 'destiny rating' of players from other teams until you go out and scout them. But you would know all the potential ratings for players on your own team. That would be cool.
