Player happiness - unhappiness

Postby Raptorel on Tue Dec 13, 2005 9:23 am

Listen, since this talk about Ron Artest and his wish to be traded (demand, actually), I thought why wouldn't they implement somthing like this in NBA Live too?

Like, players getting unhappy if you don't do certain things for them, for example:

Superstars playing too few minutes;
Superstars taking too few shots;
Any player playing too few minutes, or not playing in a game;
Not playing a player on his natural position;
Etc

Now you get the point ^^^

For example, if Ron Artest is played at C for 20 minutes per game and takes 2 shots per game, then his ratings start to fall quickly game by game, he sends you an e-mail to tell you he's kinda upset of the way he is taking part of the team, and it continues (or repeats over time), then his ratings are made very low and don't come back to original, never, unless you trade him to another team.

Thing is, you must trade him with those low ratings and you will obtain worse players in a trade than his value. For example, if he is overall rating 86 then he drops to 75-78 and you will trade him with these values...

And you shouldn't be able to cheat, like you use him very bad, he gets angry, you use him good, he settles down, and then repeat etc. There should be a limit for "repulsion" or "bad feelings towards the team".

The same (but positive manner) should be if you use a little-used reserve that knows he ain't that good to play 40 minutes per game or be a starter, for 30 minutes or whatever. He gets happy taking many shots and touching the ball often etc. They (EA Sports) need to be inventive. So, if he is happy, his ratings will raise but if he is traded, everything is lost.

You should be able to hire a team psichologyst that affects the players' happiness rating, and the better the psichologyst, the harder is for players to get unhappy and the easier is to get them happier.

I hope you guys get the point, it shouldn't be too hard to implement such an ideea, and yey it would have such a great impact. Also, team chemistry could be implemented the same way.

That sounds very cool, especially the concept of his ratings declining with his happiness making him difficult to trade as a malcontent.

I like the idea but having the rating fall game by game is too rapid, maybe week or 2 weeks, or month is better.

Perhaps it would be better if they simply had a more definitive "trade value" attribute that fell and caused teams' interest in him to dwindle.

Yeah...Artest is still a great player, but because of his attitude, he's risky. Its better if a player likes playing for you less and less until you get a message that says that he is disrupting the team, and you have to take care of it: suspension, etc. Like in NCAA Football 06.
