Hi, I’ll try to say something about the Lithuanian national team.
As someone here already said, the coach Ramunas Butautas chose 14 players for his shortlist, but I think we have to only choose 12 players and they have to be realistic, because for example there are extremely little chances that Ilgauskas will play for our team. In my opinion, the team should look like this:
The starting five:
C – Darjus LAVRINOVIC (Kazan Unix)
PF – Darius SONGAILA (Washington Wizards)
SF – Linas KLEIZA (Denver Nuggets) or Ramunas SISKAUSKAS (Panathinaikos Athens)
SG – Arvydas MACIJAUSKAS (Olympiakos Piraeus)
PG – Sarunas JASIKEVICIUS (Golden State Warriors)
Other players:
C, PF – Ksystof LAVRINOVIC (Kazan Unix)
Paulius JANKUNAS (Zalgiris Kaunas)
SF – Simas JASAITIS (Maccabi Tel Aviv)
Jonas MACIULIS (Zalgiris Kaunas)
SG – Rimantas KAUKENAS (MdP Siena)
PG – Mantas KALNIETIS (Zalgiris Kaunas)
Some of you might say that Kaukenas can be a point guard and Kalnietis is not needed, but I think Kaukenas can play better as a shooting guard and that’s why we need a point guard and I chose Kalnietis over Ginevicius and Gustas, who, I think, are jokes. Also, I decided to put Maciulis instead of Javtokas because I think that the big men in the squad are already superb and it would be better if there was a versatile player in the squad.
---------------------
Darjus LAVRINOVIC (212cm, 106kg, born 01/11/1979 Vilnius, Lithuania) – Center (probably number – 7)
An extremely versatile center, that can shoot three pointers very well, can play in the paint very well, rebounds well and is an EXCELLENT shot blocker. One of the leaders of the team for sure. I would put him the inside blocking superstar for sure.

Darius SONGAILA (204cm, 110kg, born 14/02/1978 Marijampole, Lithuania) – Power Forward (probably number – 9)
Is good at shooting mid-range shots. Plays extremely well and hard in the paint (scores a lot of points in the paint or makes the opponent foul him) , can rebound very well, but had a tendency to collect too many fouls.

Linas KLEIZA (203cm, 108kg, born 03/01/1985 Kaunas, Lithuania) – Small Forward, Power Forward (probably number – 11)
A very stong and versatile player, who can shoot 3pointers, drive to the basket and also play hard in the paint. Is a very important player for the Denver Nuggets recently and he is surely a future leader of the Lithuanian team. Just like Darius Songaila, has a problem with collecting too many fouls and still needs experience in defense, but is an extremely powerful offensive player.

Ramunas SISKAUSKAS (198cm, 95kg, born 10/09/1978 Kaisiadorys, Lithuania) – Small Forward, Shooting Guard (probably number – 8)
Also a versatile player. A very unselfish player, who can shoot 3pointers very well, but can also drive to the basket and make opponents foul him. Also a very good defensive player. In Euro2003 he sometimes played as a point guard, while Sarunas Jasikevicius was resting, because he can pass well too.

Arvydas MACIJAUSKAS (192cm, 93kg, born 19/01/1980 Klaipeda, Lithuania) – Shooting Guard (probably number – 6)
An EXCELLENT 3point and mid-range shooter. Also a very very good free throw shooter. Can also drive to the basket pretty well, but is most known for his exceptional shooting abilities. Quite a decent defensive player too, likes to steal the ball. Together with Jasikevicius and maybe Lavrinovic, the leader of the team.

Sarunas JASIKEVICIUS (192cm, 92kg, born 05/03/1976 Kaunas, Lithuania) – Point Guard (probably number – 13)
A natural leader. Makes absolutely excellent assists, shoots very well from all ranges and likes to drive to the basket and score a layup without dunking. However, he is not the best defensive player and is a bit slow on defense. Despite that, he is undoubtedly together with Macijauskas and maybe Lavrinovic the leader of the team because of his stunning offence.

Ksystof LAVRINOVIC (209cm, 108kg, born 01/11/1979 Vilnius, Lithuania) – Power Forwad, Center (probably number – 12)
A twin brother of of Darjus Lavrinovic (see above). His playing style is very similar to his brother’s, he’s very versatile, but he doesn’t play in the paint as much as his brother and shoots more from longer ranges. Also not such a good shot blocker as his brother, less impressive in defense.

Paulius JANKUNAS (203cm, 92kg , born 29/04/1984 Kaunas, Lithuania) – Power Forward (probably number – 14)
A very good rebounder, plays very well at the paint. Also solid defensive player and from time to time makes a mid-range shot too. An okay 3point shooter too.

Simas JASAITIS (201cm, 87kg, born 26/03/1982 Vilnius, Lithuania) – Small Forward, Shooting Guard (probably number - ? (used to wear 13, but Jasikevicius has that number)).
A very good 3point and mid-range shooter. Can knock down shots at very important moments. Also has a talent for offensive rebounds and can drive to the basket pretty well.

Jonas MACIULIS (198cm, 100kg, born 10/02/1985 Kaunas, Lithuania) – Small Forward, Power Forward. (probably number - ? (wears 8 in Zalgiris, but Siskauskas has the same number in the nt))
A very passionate player. He is very versatile and can do almost everything. He can play very solid defense and likes to block shots and steal balls. Can shoot 3pointers pretty well and can drive to the basket. He is also a very good rebounder and can play in the paint. A very tough player to face.

Rimantas KAUKENAS (194cm, 95kg, born 11/04/1977 Vilnius, Lithuania) – Shooting Guard (wears numbers 13 and 6 in clubs but they’re taken)
A very good shooter and drives to the basket really well. Can also pass the ball to his team mates. A very good offensive player who can really help the team.

Mantas KALNIETIS (194cm, 79kg, born 06/09/1986 Kaunas, Lithuania) - Point guard, shooting guard. (probably number - 10)
A highflyer. Can dunk really well. A very quick and fast player who can drive to the basket well and has good passing skills too.
