After playing for a bit, I gotta say it's quite fun, but there are some things I find really annoying:
- PG domination - as mentioned, the PG dominates for the CPU, no matter how hard you defend him. Heck, I played against the Bucks, Mo Williams was substituted out (because of foul trouble), Steve Blake comes in and takes the next 6 shots...
- No subs when playing
- Cameras - while I find Baseline High quite playable, the fast directional switch (the same cam took a moment to pan around in previous Live versions) feels rather weird; I quite often ran the wrong way after a steal because the camera switches instantly
- The Substitution patterns - a great idea, with horrible implementation. Every time one of your players is injured (and injuries seem to be quite common when simming) your Assistant Head Coach will automatically reallocate the playing time; however, he will completely disregard what rotations you had set before. Example:
Using the Knicks, I had Channing Frye play 60% of my PF minutes, David Lee 30% and Malik Rose 10%; Mo Taylor should not play at all. Then Frye got injured for 13 weeks, so the PC made Mo the starter and let him play the bulk of the minutes. So I readjusted the chart again, giving 60% to Lee and 40% to Rose, and moving Taylor to the inactive list. Next time someone was injured (and I believe it was just some rookie who got hurt for 3 days) the PC again totally readjusted the chart... with Mo Taylor again getting the bulk of the PF minutes.
After readjusting that chart about 20 times in 3 dynasty months, I ended up trading Mo Taylor to the Hawks for a scrub because I couldn't find a way to prevent him from getting all the PF minutes again every time someone hurt his pinkie...
- Scouting on the other had still is not automated a little more, so you will again be commanding the scout every week instead of being able to just send him out to scout the potential picks 1-20 in all categories...
- The free throw system - takes time to get used to it, mostly because it lacks a visual indicator during the animation, but it's not too bad really.
