I'm wondering if between the Superstar and Star levels of, for example, an Outside Scorer, there are any moves that belong to both sets, or if we get four unique moves for each level, in addition to the different animations if you use FSS from a backdown position. Then again I'll have the game very soon if the school post office gets its act together.....it was delivered 3 hours ago and they haven't put a notice in my mailbox yet...

IM POSTING THIS IN 2 THREADS SO DONT GET MAD AT ME BUT THERE ARE 2 THREADS THAT HAVE THE SAME EXACT TOPIC SO IF YOU GOT A PROBLEM COMBINE THE THREADS...............
Ok im going to try and give a comlpetely honest, unbiased opinion on the game. A lot of people on this board just go crazy dissing the game and go crazy defedning it... There doesent seem to be much of a middle ground.
Let me give it a shot.
PS. I Bought both Live and 2k7 for current gen and have played them both the same amount and like them both the same for diff reasons so there are no bias here
System: XBOX CURRENT GEN
Graphics wise it looks pretty much the same as last year, maybe some slight improvements. The Menu/Presentation is really nice (Way better than 2k7 presentation) And the announcers seem to really do a good job much improved from last year. One of the biggest edges that live has on 2k is the announcers, i really enjoy their commentary during the game especially this year.
The freestyle moves are really hard to get a hang of... Im having a very hard time with them so far, its not the same as last year where u just push a button and vualla... Seems there is a lot more timing and situational factors involved. The X-Factor stuff i think is really cool and i really enjoy being able to have little goals like unlocking a players special abilities by getting him hot. Thats super fun - Also, your xfactor player changes from game to game... One game my xfactor was Channing Frye with inside scoring, the next it was Jamal Crawford with Playmaker.. That is very cool from game to game you get to have diff players to try and get hot.
The defense is probobly my biggest problem, It seems as if players slide around the court even more than usual and on defense the opposing Point Gaurd seems to just slip by me virtually every time even when im directly in front of him. This may just take some getting used to but the feel of the defense so far is very strange.
Rebounding has gotten a LOT better.
Wish there were sig animations.
Havent started a franchise mode yet but i will soon,
Cool how they have rivalries between teams also i love that, not sure exactly how it works yet but i like the idea.. I Played nets vs. knicks which was a rivalry and it seemed the crowd/players were very into it from the start but i got blown out lol
I LOVE the layup/dunk button, its sooooo nice to be able to choose between a layup and a dunk.. Wonderful. VERY PISSED That they removed last man back passing... But this has already been discussed. Anyways these are my initial impressions.
People seem to be killing me on everything i post, so im interested to hear the critique of this one! lol, later

TJ ford and Bosh i think were the only ones.
As far as X factors, i think its just random. I gotten 3 different x-factors in 3 different games using the same team.

The answer for me is a definitive no. Remember last year when with default sliders you could get like 40 steals a game with the FSS Defensive Locks and just abuse other FSS to no extent?
I feel like now the FSS is a risk/reward type deal, and I've found myself trailing when I try to use it too frequently, and find myself much more successful trying to work an offense and find a gap, an open look, or a lane, than trying to do what has been successful in previous NBA Live's.
The game has bugs, but so does every one, and once we see past those, I think we'll see the best NBA Live release ever.
I think I have to calm down.
bigh0rt, Ive seen the light. Heres some problems and how they effect
me:
- Only can play 82 game season (I was going to play that anyway, so no problem here)
- CPU Do not sub often (This sucks because I'm a realism freak. Hopefully they bring out some sort of fix)
- Save stats button (Never used it, always just saved my stats from the box scores on the schedule)
- Incorrect courts, some missing jerseys (We are a patching community, no problems here)
- Missing key players (I really don't mind it when they don't say the players name after they create them, the fact that he is there is what counts)
- No signature jumpshots (I was looking forward to this, but Ive lived without it for years, why complain now?)
Good Things:
- Great gameplay (This is what I wanted)
- Nice presentation (Making the game look pretty is just a bonus)
- FSS changes (The reason why I never bought 06, looks like they have really fixed this)
- X-Factor (This is a great addition to the game, because from everything I have heard, it works)
So yeah, I think I overreacted. I they fix up some of those minor glitches, solve the subs problem and (for those of you who on't play 82 game seasons) Add the old short and medium length seasons in.
That is certainly a much more level-headed approach to assessing the game, and one I wish more people would take. Look at the positives and weigh them vs the negatives here. For one, the positives are the core of the game, while the negatives are secondary (IMO, at least). Secondly, most of those negatives will be fixed by the patching community, and even some that you may not think (I'm certain people will be working on the sub bug as well as somehow making it possible to save stats).
So, all in all, to say Live 07 hasn't fully exceeded my expectations would be a complete understatement. I'm thrilled with this game right now and cannot stop playing it. I can't stop saying it, either -- best Live ever, out of the box; and will be the best Live post-patches.
ok, I am a long time reader of this forum and I get to a point that I can't stand you anymore.
Seriously, do you work for EA?
EA took 10 steps back after NBA live 2005.
Why don't you comment on fatique slider, 82 games dynasty mode, direct pass error and PG domination.
I would say 80% are bad, and 20% are good in this version

X-Factors are not listed on this particular screen, if I'm not mistaken.
Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:18 am
x factors change form game to game they dont show them there, they show them during the game
Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:19 am
I hope there is at least one X-Factor,whatever, thanks Buck

Ive never been able to get it to work yet. I had Antione Walker as one before and kept scoring with him for almost a whole quarter and nothing.
Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:44 am
you got to hold left trigger and click the right analog to activate it.. did you?
Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:49 am
yeah, i never got any messages saying i could activate it. But i tried anyway, and nothing,.
Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:53 am
I dunno, can't really see the benefit of that. I don't need the game to tell me which player I should use primarily, that kinda spoils the fun, for me at least...

But it is not possible that for instance Andrew Bynum becomes a 3-Point threat right?
Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:15 am
I love the 360 version of the game!!!!! Big big improvement of last year's version.
Having 3 levels of superstars is a great idea, although honestly, I think it's pretty weird that guys like Dirk and Duncan can do crazy layups.
Graphics wise, the 360 version looks sweet on 720 p HD.

I believe the player has to be at least reasonably close to having the FSS abilities in order for them to activate it as an X-Factor. I haven't seen anything unreasonable yet.
