Is this some kind of Freudian slip? You can't imagine how confused I am right now.

nope, unless you can unlock it with a code. But it doesnt show it locked or anything. As far as i can tell its not in the game. Same with the blue Charlotte jersey. Its really quiet funny, i think Toronto only has home and away jersey, no classics.

Yup i just double checked. Raptors only have home, away, and the two practice jerseys. I dont think any team had any changes with classic jerseys, same old ones from last year.

Last year you had to unlock the Red Detroit Alternative with a code (as you all probably know) and if that's not the case in 07 there's bound to be an abundance of patches released between now and who nows when as there always is...

As a sim player i must say the DEFENSE in Live07 is great, the player body weight really plays a factor...ive been playing for 20+mins and still havent been able to dunk cuz the help defense is crazy

The uniforms look crappy on the pc this year again.... the screens that EA posted must all be from the xbox version like they did last year... i dont see why they couldnt simply use the same graphics engine for pc and xbox.

i dont think the fatigue slider is the problem though. They fatigue just fine, but they never sub out. And why would you be glad anything was taken out of a game? You dont have to use the playbook thing, i loved it.

Well, since the thread is called "first impression", here's mine (for PC):

Visually, at 1280x1024 and all settings to max, the game looks pretty much similar to '06, the jerseys and shoes still look mediocre, the faces are pretty good, the crowd is still pitiful.

There are some nice moves, dribbling feels and looks more realistic, free throws are way better than previously. Turbo is very very weak, so that fast breaks don't work out too good. The X factor thing is pretty annoying so far, I don't see the use of it at all and the screen that pops up to let you know how the X factor is too big and clunky.

Menus are pretty much the same, music is more diversified, player ratings are sometimes very messed up (R.Gomes 62??, L.Wright 70??,...).

Now my main problem (besides the graphic non-improvements and the missing sig shots). I dunno if anyone else has this issue, but the direct pass on my controller doesn't work properly (unlike '06): I can't switch to the last defender, it just keeps showing what my choices are for a change using the 4 regular buttons (in letters that are barely visible). In offense, the buttons don't correspond to the positions they always used to be assigned, and they keep changing time after time.
I have a Logitech Rumblepad. Does anyone else has this problem?

There's obviously a lot more to say, but I gotta say that Im really not impressed so far. I know that all the patchers out there will make everything look better, but overall it's just not much of an improvement over '06 in my opinion... :( :(

Why dont they just release the game in like mid to late october and push the cut-off date up. That way there wont be so many missing players. I hope they add these in the patch so we can have some voice id's insted of just "player number 7".

I don't know that this is a glitch as much as it just is a change. I cannot do the outlet pass or the last defender switch like in previous Lives. I haven't consulted the manual yet, but I'm thinking they've either removed it (which would disappoint me), or they've made it controlled differently. As for the direct pass button changes, they've switched the SF and the C. The rest are the same as always. It's tough at first, but I'm now getting the hang of it (still pressing the wrong button sometimes, but it's only Day 1).

For me, the game is 100% less acracish than Live 06, the new animations are superb, there's much less of the sliding feeling, etc. Be honest, has any other Live straight out of the box without editing sliders or anything played this well, in terms of gameplay? The answer for me is a definitive no. Remember last year when with default sliders you could get like 40 steals a game with the FSS Defensive Locks and just abuse other FSS to no extent?

I feel like now the FSS is a risk/reward type deal, and I've found myself trailing when I try to use it too frequently, and find myself much more successful trying to work an offense and find a gap, an open look, or a lane, than trying to do what has been successful in previous NBA Live's.

The game has bugs, but so does every one, and once we see past those, I think we'll see the best NBA Live release ever.
