Artificial Intelligence tweak AIACT Work in Progress

Postby Patr1ck on Thu Dec 21, 2006 12:27 pm

Here is a preview of what I may be releasing very soon. Its a modification to the artificial intelligence and decision making of the cpu. The aim is to create balanced gameplay so the cpu isn't trying to dribble drive with the pg or any other player all the time. I am trying to find a good balance of jumpshots, 3 pointers, fast breaks, dribble drives and post play. I would like to increase the usage of screens but I have been unsuccessful so far. There will be no animation changes. You will be able to use your own sliders with the aiact.

Here are stats for one game. I will be showing stats for different styles of teams before I release. I played as the Clippers for the first quarter and a half of the second, then got something to eat and let the cpu play the rest.

The main thing I want you to notice is the shot distribution on the court, and between the players.

As you can see there was a high amount of shots taken. My game speed is set to 50. I'll increase the fouls and turnovers and try to lower the amount of shots taken.

Good idea, that should produce nice results.

It shouldn't matter what level you play at, but I'm not entirely sure.

The ai test looks real good :)

And I think you'd benefit from releasing the patch for wider audience for testing purposes. Alot of people play the game alot of different ways, and it might not work out so good if the patch suits only your own style of play. But it definetly looks good, I've never had Garnett even score anything so close to those numbers.

Want to know whats funny? The computer did that with Ricky Davis. He banked it in. If I had played as the Lakers it would have been awesome, because later that same day Ricky Davis hit a half court shot against the Lakers.

I wish I could see that... I think half court shots attempted by the computer are much more accurate than in real life,I mean, even with Shaq you might hit the rim or the backboard most of the time, while in real life, most players just toss it to the crowd.

Lots of setbacks. It seems that it works for some teams, but other teams just want their pg to ignore their other players most of the time. I'm still working on it, there is no expected release date.
