Added Artist and Track Name download

Sat Dec 16, 2006 9:41 am

Hey man...That was an awesome tutorial...Nice and clear...And it worked to the tee...I hate that you can't use more letters than what was there originally...But alot of them had enough letters to work with....Thank You..

If you downloaded my custom Beastie Boys music...And want all the Artist and Track names to appear in the game.....Go to the top of the page....There is a download link and instructions....

Or if you used your own music and want to update the Artist/Album/Song info...Follow Crappy-Stuff's tutorial....It work's.....

Much thanks to Crappy-Stuff...You da man :D

i got the music working on the menus, now how do i get them to play in the arenas during gameplay?

Sat Dec 16, 2006 1:04 pm

You can't....

Sat Dec 16, 2006 1:42 pm

Actually, you can exceed the maximum number of characters. The only problem is that you're gonna risk the characters of the other strings. Like for example, I replaced one artist name with "Audioslave" and I crossed with the "Celtic Armband" string. The display became "laveic Armband". It didn't bother me though, since I know that the "Celtic Armband" is a bicep tattoo.

I didn't even attempt to type in to the other strings...If the artist name was too short...I just put in "B-Boys" as the artist name.....It all worked out pretty good.....I'm very happy with it....Thanks again, man..

Much appreciated (Y), I'm a fan of Beastie Boys myself. (Y)

Thanks, man...

Here is the link for the program to convert...It's called Ditty Importer..

Just convert which songs you want.....You can do up to 23 with Live 07...And when your done coverting them...Just rename them as follows: xsong1, xsong2, xsong 3, etc.. all the way up to 23....and then copy all songs to "x":\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 07\audio\music
***Make sure you back up the original, just incase you want the old ones back...But i doubt that would be the case

If you want to edit the Artist and track names so that they appear in Live when you play it...Just follow Crappy-Stuff's tutorial somewhere in this thread....

Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:15 am

Conversion is easy, but the track title editing is difficult.

Tue Dec 19, 2006 3:39 am

Yeah i'm having issues with the custom soundtrack i made. Cant find the correct strings to edit to change track names...

Tue Dec 19, 2006 6:34 am

Do you keep getting, letters and numbers all jumbled up where they dont belong?? And DO NOT open up Live while you have the locale.eng open in FXEditor....That's what I did, just to see if my changes worked....No matter what you do, if you have FXEditor running with the locale.eng while running Live 07, even if the changes you made were correct...You'll still get the jumbled letters, right from the beggining, where it usually says "Electronic Arts 2006, etc".....If you made changes, and want to see if they worked..Close out FXEditor, THEN run Live....

Also, when searching for in FXEditor for Artist and File names, make sure both boxes are checked in the search box...Then case-sensitivity doesn't matter...

When you click search, and then type lets say "Redrama", a common mistake i kept doing was, i would press enter to execute the search instead of clicking ok...Nothing would happen, THEN i would click OK...But it didn't find it...Because, when I pressed enter, it took me to the next line in the search box...So it wasn't looking for just Redrama...It was looking for Redrama plus the Enter I pushed....
So just type what your looking for, and click OK...No enter....

Also, when editing them, like Crappy-Stuff said, if you searched for "Redrama", which has 7 characters, and you want to replace it with, i don't know.."Notorious B.I.G"..You would have to shorten it to fit the original 7 characters...Because if you go into the next string, who knows where the mistake will be....BUT, i did notice, that if your editing something with an X amount of characters that has a few more period's at the end than usual...You can add in a few more characters...But I would stay on the safe side and stay within the limits...

Also, what I did was...Edit one....close out FXEditor...Star Live, just to see what I did....Edit another....close out FXEditor...Star Live, to check....And I did this until I was comfortable enough to edit them without having to go back to Live after every single one....Also, make sure you backed up the original....and if you want, back up the one your editing every now and then...So just in case you mess up, you can go back....It's a bitch trying to find what went wrong.....

Well, I hope this helped...Let me know how it went.....

Tue Dec 19, 2006 7:31 am

according to this it cant find any of the song names etc....i might just need to start over

Tue Dec 19, 2006 7:48 am

illini wrote:according to this it cant find any of the song names etc....i might just need to start over

Yeah, just start over with the back up of locale.eng and start fresh....

Oh yeah, to make searching easier...Let's say you are looking for "Army of the Pharoahs", which is one of the songs you will be editing....It would be alot easier just to search for "Army"...Because most likely, that would be the only "Army" in the whole document...You can do that with anything your searching for that has more that one word.......Make sure you check the "Search from beginning of file" and "Ignore case in strings" boxes...

Unfortunatley, when searching...The Artist, Track Name, and Album names are scattered through out the document....So you have to do every single on individually...All together, it took me about a good 2 - 3 hours...Once you get the hang of it, you start going faster....

Also, if your editing something with, lets say "8" characters, and replace it with 5 characters....MAKE SURE, you click Edit, then Edit Hex...and keep pressing 0(zero) so that the rest of the characters are replaced with "."(periods).
Again if you used up all 8 characters, there is no need to Hex edit to get the periods...

Oh yeah, I keep remembering stuff that I think would help....

(This situation definitely WILL happen while editing, so I'm just using the word "Rebounds" as an example)
I've noticed, that if your editing characters that are at the very end of the box or the last line where it looks something like this...
Look at the picture # 0 and # 1..
Lets say I was editing the word "rebound" which starts from the very last "R" on the bottom right of the picture 0(circled in red). And I wanted to replace it with the word "Balloon"....

When editing this is what you will be looking at...
Image
Picture 0

I am just showing you this picture to show you that the word "Rebounds" continues...
Image
Picture 1

Now look at picture # 2..
Once I press "B" it always takes you up to the top left corner of the document...Take a look, it's the "E" that has the red box around it....So now you've only edited the first letter of "Rebounds", but It takes you to the top left of the document...The way I used to get to the next line where "Rebounds" continues is (or whatever it may be that your editing, I'm just using "Rebounds" as an example).....
a) Click "Edit"
b) Click "Stop"
c) Click the scroll bar down ONCE, make sure you click it down
d) Click YES when it asks you to save....

Continued after picture 2.....

Image
Picture 2

Look at picture 3..
Now it should've brought you down to where the rest of the word "ebounds" is...It's circled in red...Now we are going to edit the rest...
Click Edit, then Edit String...
I wanted to replace it with the word "balloon", so i would type in "alloon"..Obviously cause I already typed the "B" before...

Continued after picture 3.....

Image
Picture 3

Look at picture 4..
Now it's edited but, there is still the "s" left from the word "Rebounds"....
Now click EDIT, EDIT HEX...and press the number "0" to replace the last "s" with a ".'(period)---see picture 5...Once your done..you can move on to your next search, and it will ask you to save changes...Click Yes, of course....And that's it for that....

Well, I hope I could help...Let me know how you made out...

ok kool thanks very much this is much appreciated

thanks keep up the good work

No problem...But if it wasn't for Crappy-Stuff's advice, I would have no idea what I'm talking about..

Let me know how you made out tho....

Fri Dec 22, 2006 7:26 am

it all worked thank you very much. even got the song names up in the game too.

thanks cosmo and crappy

Fri Dec 22, 2006 10:50 pm

Really, I forgot about that part. Cosmo's really getting into the zone. To illini, you can exceed the "Redrama" string if its hex equivalent has excess dots before the next string.

Sat Dec 23, 2006 6:10 pm

No problem, I'm glad I can help....

About the excess dots...I would only edit if there are more than 2 dots extra...I would always leave atleast 2 dots...But test it out....
