Pdub: Ok, but it's hard to find out what to close...=/ Could u come up with a similarity between the programs that you closed? No, I can't be bothered to bring that up, I'm sure they have heard of it, I just focus on the crash bug will do. :)

EnrageD: Nice, thanks for the information.

These are the processes I have kept running without experiencing a crash. The ones in bold are system processes, the other stuff is software installed on my computer.

ati2evxx.exe (runs with ATI videocard drivers)
ati2evxx.exe
avgnt.exe (antivirus, I don't exit the program, but I do turn off scanning)
avguard.exe (antivirus again)
srss.exe
ctdvddet.exe (soundblaster audigy crap that seems to serve no purpose)
ctsvccda.exe (sound crap again)
ctsysvol.exe (volume mixer for soundblaster)
explorer.exe
ipoint.exe (mouse software, not reall needed)
LClock.exe ("Large Clock" that came with a Vista visualization pack, not needed at all for playing Live, but if I exit it explorer closes and restarts with the normal clock)
lsass.exe
MsPMSPSv.exe
RcMan.exe (remote control manager for soundcard)
Smc.exe (sygate firewall)
services.exe
smss.exe
spoolsv.exe
svchost.exe(no matter how many there are)
System / System Idle Process
wdfmgr.exe
winlogon.exe

I always make sure I am not running daemon.exe(daemon tools) or Fraps before I click "quit game", I will play with Fraps on, though.

I believe its one of three things(for me). Atitray.exe(ATI Tray Tools) which has caused problems with games before while it was running in the background. My virus scanner being activated, or Fraps.

It happens to me: when i try to exit from every match system crashes in exhibition and in dynasty so i can't save game and continue it. I think it's a problem of my windows x64

Just try running it in windows 95 compatability mode, it works.

why the hell as we cross posting?

EnrageD: I saw that you also posted this suggestion on the EA forum, but my NBA Live won't run in Windows 95 mode. Dunno why, but it just gives an error message...Any hints?

Question 1: Is everyone who is having this crash problem using the downloaded version for PC?

Question2: Is everyone who is having this crash problem using a laptop?

The reason I ask about the laptop is this is what it says on the EA website under min. req.:

"
Supported 64MB 3D Direct 3D chipsets:

*
NVIDIA GeForce3 or greater.
*
ATI Radeon 7500 or greater.
*
The Intel 915, 945 and 950 .

Note: Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but are not officially supported. The NVIDIA GeForce2/4 MX series are also not supported.

EnrageD: Ok, for my case, I can't run the game in 95, 98/ME, 2000 compatibility. It either dun run or even if it runs from cd autorun, it will say dvd not found.

Pdub: Yes, turn off your daemon tools permanently. Because cd-emulation services are one of the no-nos EA gave to me to uninstall. But I did mine, no use.

gamason:
1. Crash problem is for downloaded and dvd, aka everyone(almost).
2. No? Using a desktop?

Tue Oct 03, 2006 9:36 am

okay i guess it doesn't matter if it is download or dvd, but as far as the laptop question...i guess i should have asked,

does anyone have this crash problem, and have one of the approved video chipsets (listed in my post 2 above this) on a desktop?

because apparently the chipsets are different in laptops and desktops, even for the same model (never knew this).

that really sucks, no problem for me, maybe since you already own the game, check GCW for a no-cd crack, i would use it but my ea downloader version works just fine.

in fact, i use a crack for most of my bought games, or mini-image, such as bf2, quake4, warcraft3, madden 06/07, mlb 2005, nhl 06. nothing wrong with it if you own the game right?

infact i dont even know where my quake4 cd1 is, and my bf2 dvd wont read, so i have downloaded versions of both games.

Nothing wrong with it if you own the game. However, any form of their discussion is against the forum rules.

I wouldn't use no-cd cracks. Yeah, 'doesn't matter' if u own the original but just against my ethics. Haiz...

im just trying to be helpful, its a easy quick solution, and in my ethical point of view, game producers should allow us to backup our games, period. we payed for it, we can back it up.
