May be an issue of simply learning how to play effective defense and force the pass. I hope so at least.

I've been getting my ass handed to me hard on All-Star too. Thinking of dropping to Starter.

On defense, do you use the point guard to cover the opposing team's point guard? If so, that might be the case. I find I limit the point guard quite well if I play as PF or C.

Have you guys noticed that direct pass is a little different this year? in years past you had to hold down the direct pass button and then press a face button to direct pass. this year the direct pass button is a "toggle button", meaning that you just have to tap it and the direct pass icons stay on. you gotta then tap the direct pass button again to turn it off if you don't press a face button.

i also noticed that direct pass button to whoever is the center has been swapped with the direct pass button for the small forward position.

small changes that i need to get used to i guess. altho it does make user offensive rebounds harder to come by.

IMO, this years live is a lot better than last years. i feel its more challenging and rewarding when i win a game.

Those are 2 of the changes I struggled with during my first 2 games. Still finding myself pushing the wrong button from time to time.

If you guard the opposing PG with your PF or C, you should give up a point in the paint almost every trip down the court.

Whoops, I meant allow the CPU point guard to cover the other team's point guard while I cover my PF or C using my PF or C :)

Yes, depending on which team I'm using, I'll sometimes do that as well.

Again, as I said, it's likely an issue of learning how to play this new game and getting down defense -- the hardest part of learning any sports game is learning how to play D. And, naturally, since it's Day 1, and we're not any good yet, the PG is going to run wild on us, though I haven't experience it as much as Donatello seemingly as, though I have been getting my ass beat all the same.

How is the offensive rebounding in Nba Live 07?

I'm asking this cause it destroyed last years game in my opinion.
It will take much more game play to determine this, but I haven't noticed it as being a problem thus far in my play of the game.
I don't think so. I play this game since 1995 and last year it took me only two games to recognize the offensive rebounding problems and i was not the only one.

anyone else a little dissapointed about the playcalling this year? i liked how in live 06 you can press the right stick and it'll show you where to go to start the play. unless i missed an option that can turn that on, i feel like i can't run plays effectively.

i agree, i was trying to get the circle to come up too. I couldnt though. :( another missed feature.
You know they dont have to take features away to add new ones...did someone lose that memo over at EA?

My opinion is the game is unplayable. The computer never subs, meaning if you play against the computer their starters will play 95% of the game. In a 12 minute quarter game, the computer made two subs the whole time. That alone makes the game unplayable.

Also against the computer, their point guard takes 70% of the shots, just running into the lane and tossing up shots that go in about 60% if the time even if quadruple teamed.

The game is unplayable.

Even when turned on, the momentum and fatigue meters don't appear.

I agree.... what is the point in trying to play a basketball game where players never sub, and scrubs that happen to play PG dominate, while your stars hardly get the ball. I think EA is really going to lose alot of fans with this shit. Im already gone...

Look harder. There's about as many positive as negative reviews thus far.

Gee, that sounds really crap :?

Hopefully, it will only be a matter of reducing the "primacy" for all the pg's in the roster updates.

If thats an unavoidable bug, it totally ruins the game

the PG scoring too much is gonna be fixed with sliders, primacy fixes and us learning to play the game. maybe there are play calling flaws: everyone remember that last year every team had as its default play to be intended for the PG? i'm not too worried about that....

but it absolutely kills me that the CPU doesn't sub their players!!! are you playing dynasty games? maybe it's gotta do something with the squad rotation stuff... or maybe there is no fatigue/subs in exhibition mode? this could be a real game killer :S

I have one question sorry if its been asked already but I saw in the preview vids they had that damn awful reverse layup every player was able to do which was unstoppable and it was one of the things that made 06 scoring shit because inside scoring was too easy to do. Has that been taken out or is it still in there?

Oh, and i have one question for 360 players.

Have you noticed more differentiation between players styles/abilities due to the new ratings?

If your not sure, could you please do a little experiment for me...

1. Create 2 PF/C's
2. For the first guy, make him an unathletic dude, with great post skills...Post Savy, footwork etc. Any of the ratings that you think would make a Kevin Mchale type player...
3. Then make the other guy an athletic player with good dunking, jumping, speed etc. But give him crappy post skills and footwork. Basically your typical raw athletic big man.

THE CATCH: I want you to only change the ratings for the categories that will affect athleticism and post skills. Leave everything else on 50. That way we can be sure the contrasting styles are due to the mentioned ratings and not some other rating.

4. Play some one on one, taking turns with both players and report on what kind of difference these ratings made.

Thanks...and good luck 8-)

Learning to play will not stop PGs from scoring too much. I've played this game for years, and know how to stop penetration. Double teamed, triple and even quadruple teamed the computer PG gets it in his mind to penetrate and put up a shot, and he does it and hits a lot.

I'm kinda frustrated after attempting to play a couple test games this evening on the PC version. The game feels like it's in slow motion and turbo doesn't seem to do anything. I dropped the difficulty to rookie and was still getting ripped. Rebounding seems impossible, even with Ben Wallace on my Bulls. ;) Is it me or is stealing almost impossible without getting called for a foul? Then to top it off, the game crashes every time you hit 'quit game'. I have the downloaded version from EA, so not sure if it's any different from the DVD version or not. Maybe it's just been completely redesigned where I need to learn from the beginning. I will keep trying though. ;)
