Hey, I have a stupid question but...

Did you notice if it was NBA Live 06 instead of 07 ? I mean, for the Finals preview (some months ago) they showed NBA Live 06 with a new ball and a few more FT animations, and they said it was Live 07.

I think you played with one of the first builds of the game.

Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:53 am

Maybe this build was before Peja even got traded :| I only have two quick questions on the game and they are what is it like changing the superstar types on the fly? and what was the foot planting and procedural awareness like? oh yeah congrats on coming first (Y) good luck in the rest of the tournament

there are no supid questions ;)
but yeah i'm sure that i played a totally new game, not an old live '06 which says '07 (fore example it was dirks unique shot, and his hair flew around while doing the fadeaway and stuff... it's definitely not '06 ;) )

and hey... now that i think about it i'm not 100% sure that it was peja but i thought so^^
i'll check that out tomorrow ;)

didn't change superstar mode, didn't even use it (maybe coz it's an older built ?)
foot planting was awesome, just as in all the preview vids, it's spot on, it looks much more like human beings now (Y)

and i don't really know what procedural awareness is, but i think it has to do something with the AI... I didn't play against the computer, only against human players ;)

and thanks a million for the congrats :D

i'll go offline now, coz it's getting pretty late here... already 1 am...
but i'll check the thread again before i go to that event again tomorrow

so just feel free to ask more questions or if u want me to check sth, i'll try my best to keep you guys up to date (Y)

Good luck bitch! :P

^^ LOL

procedural awareness is a player's awareness of his surroundings, like a defender looking at the ball, or a rebounder turning his head towards the rim as a shot leaves the shooter's hand

pHLo wrote:there is no extra button fur dunks and layups, it's one button (like '06)

That's weird, the version I played had seperate Dunk and Layup buttons (both Current and Next Gen). :?

Thanks for the impressions though, I'll post a link in the NLSC news. :)

Sun Aug 27, 2006 11:29 am

Maybe he didnt hold the jump-step button for the layup (at least i think thats how you do it).

9/10 :D

but ye.. i gotta admit that i'm hyped after this day...

maybe my rating will drop after a while... but still it's definitely better than last year's version ;)

Well I sure hope its 9/10 better than last year, even 10/10 would be appropriate. But as far as a game trying to emulate basketball, does it feel more like 2K or more like Nba Jam?

From the dunking I've seen it's ridiculously Nba Jam

What about you?

Well, however the game ends up, it can't be as disappointing as Madden 07! Madden got rid of their owner mode, hire/firing coaches , and a bunch of other things. (I'm not going to ramble on about Madden as this is a Live Forum). But from reading eveything you posted, it seems as though your playing off an older version of the the game, maybe when they were still in developmental stages of production. Because the report Andrew gave it seems as though the game has a lot more to offer.

This sounds kinda fishy to me......I think he was playin' '06 and didn't know it. To many things weren't right about his story...... :?

P.S.:^^Madden got rid of their what!!!?!!!! This can't be true!!!! EA is starting to go all the way downhill........ (N)

All I got to say is.... I bought Madden 07 and I'm very upset that they got rid of several features in the game that I, and I'm pretty sure others, really enjoyed. I just don't want to be extra upset purchasing Live 07 and getting pissed again, because if that happens, I may be finished with EA games!!! The only game I'll buy would be FIFA.

Sun Aug 27, 2006 1:32 pm

Hey Hitman... (Sorry for changing topic guys)... wat are they offering new in FIFA this year?

Sun Aug 27, 2006 1:53 pm

Don't know. But from what I heard, and its not a reliable source, but better gameplay (like winning eleven), and more realistic transfers with real money. For example, you're playing with AC Milan and you qualify into Champions league, you'll receive more money fro making the tournment and can therefore buy someone on the transfer market. Also, you can put in offers before qualifications in Champions league, UEFA or season, that way you have some time to buy, sell, or loan a player instead of the typical one week before the season starts. Scouting is also supposed to be improved, more stadiums, and I think I also heard player morale. So if Francesco Totti wants out of AS Roma, he'll let you know about it. Like I said, I heard this through "the grape-vine" so take it for what it's worth. I've always enjoyed FIFA and Madden and was disappointed with Live 05 and 06. Other than that EA usually does a good job. But I may be losing faith in them now that Madden became such a disappointment. FIFA should be good though, especially after playing World Cup on 360. It was a good base to work off of.

Sun Aug 27, 2006 2:05 pm

Yeh man... well... i found the World Cup game a better paly than FIFA 06 actually... i really liked the gameplay on WC... I played that on PC... Fifa though has great 'dyansty-like' mode... forgot what we call it lol

So i'm hoping that they use the WC game as a base also in temrs of imrpoving the gameplay and stuff... just fix the shooting bar in WC and use that gameplay for FIFA 07 with all the usual stuff and i would think it's a decent game.

And yeh... Live 05 and 06 were very similar... none of the Live games since 2002 have been good IMO but its all i got!

EDIT: it wasnt that FIFA was shocking but i liked WC more :D I could play at perfect difficulty while in FIFA... i never tried world class

Konami's Winning Eleven is light years better than FIFA, at least counting Gameplay that in the end is the important thing. FIFA is a lot more arcadeish, fun to play some games, but WE is more enjoyable long term, maybe similar to what happens with 2K and Live (haven't played 2K tho).

i'll ask the EA guys what's up with their version of Live '07 ^^
i didn't even notice that Peja should be on Hornets (or at least Pacers) while playing the game

Another question pHlo:what about the soundtrack? Is good?

Mon Aug 28, 2006 2:00 am

Nice impressions, damn If I had known that, I would have tried to come to Munich, since it is only one hour with the train + the way to the Jam. (Im from Augsburg ;) )

But some things you told us are a bit strange, like the Peja thing, but that is no problem, just try to ask any EA guys about the build.

Nice info, so long

FIFA's gameplay is getting a lot better, especially if you played FIFA WC, you'd know. I just hope Live doesn't disappoint. It better not be all hype and marketing!! My favorite Live was still Live 2000. Best feature: Going to resign someone on your teams who's contract expired and he says to you NOT INTRESETED IN YOUR OFFER. That was awsome. I really miss that. Little things like that made the damn game good. FIFA has that, when you want to buy someone and the club accepts, the player may not want to go to your team. In other words both the player and club must agree to your transfer offer. Its so cool!!

Music was turned off, so i don't know about it, your bulls were rated 78, but without Big Ben and all those new players ;)
Kirk was in the 80's don't remember the exact value

i asked the EA guys...
they said it was an 2006 roster on an early '07 gameplay, they didn't know very much bout it tho, they couldn't help me out when i was asking about changing superstar mode on the fly, etc

but ye...

i won :D:D:D

haha, i'm the NBA Live champion of Munich :D
i'm heading to Cologne in October for the german finals now, they gave me a price too:
EA Sports T-Shirt, towel, keychain and bag and a coupon for an EA game of my choice ;)

haha :D

and about the procedural awareness, they players turn their heads to where the action is, very cool and realistic ;)
i was help-defending with my center and he turned his head to the ballhandler and then to his man... and so on ;)
pretty cool ;)

Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:58 am

Wow, Congratulation, EA Game coupon, that is very nice.

You gonna buy live for it ? And Xbox or PC or PS 2,3 ?

I did not know anything about the Jam before this thread, and it makes me even more angry that I read about it in the Basket magazine and did not notice that this event is the same you are talkin about :(

But really cool, thx for the info
