EA/ESPN Integration Update from IGN 7/13/06

The ESPN features are attractive to the casual gamer; they'll appreciate it more than we do. X-factor could turn out to be too dominating just as Freestyle Superstars did in 06, but can be amazing if implemented well. However, removing the sliding is a big deal, as it does fix a major problem the Live series has had for a a couple of years. And who's to say that it's the only gameplay change? The other new features like momentum and intensity have the potential to create realistic NBA game scenarios. Articles also stated that defense has been brought up a notch, while allowing for more collisions. You can't judge GAMEPLAY if you haven't PLAYED the GAME. The game may very well turn out to be horrible, but it's too early to put the game on blast when it hasn't even been released yet.

koberulz all you do is talk down on live, if you like 2k better fine.....but all the new features are excitin and you just hatin on them because you like 2k better....you really need to shut up, because the new espn intergration is good, because, thats what everybody wanted in the wishlist...if you have no real complaint about nba live 07, then you need to shut the fuck up, because you havent played the game to determine the gameplay yet.......

I think getting live on current-gen consoles if a waste of money. If they give us next-gen on pc..it will be worth it...if not..and if you dont have a xbox360/ps3..dont get too excited. (y)

I got a 360 so it's good news to me....I'm still not sold on this feature as I can easily watch PTI normally....although if you could access full games, then I would be impressed & I could dump Foxtel....either way, I'm happy as an XBox 360 owner that the Live version is supposedly going to be more realistic....if it is any good, I'll grab it & 2k7

I don't think it's an indication of what the gameplay will be like or if any other features will be lacking, simply an update on what the ESPN Integration is going to bring. In any case, sounds good and all but I'm personally not all that interested especially since I don't have an XBox 360.

how could it be implemented well? the mere fact that every team has one, and it lasts four minutes (that's almost half a quarter), is enough to say to me, that it will be next to useless. i don't want to be playing online and have t-mac suddenly drain 500 threes in the last 4 minutes. hell, imagine the already-overpowerful comeback code with this feature at its side.

NEWSFLASH: Nintendo, the royal crapness of gaming in many peoples' opinions, came up with that idea in 2001. if not earlier. and as i said about the x-factor, it has more than enough potential to give the comeback code yet another advantage it doesn't need, and fuck us up the ass even more often than it already does. intensity has good potential, i'll give it that, but again, it could fuck with the comeback code. i see it very unlikely in this scenario, but you never know. it is EA, after all. and collisions? it's 2004 all over again, where the only way to get past the 3-point line was the unstoppable pro-hop. which is no longer unstoppable. and while speaking of the pro-hop, has anyone noticed that every single edition of NBA Live has had at least one way-too-easily-abusable-even-by-accident feature? Hello X-Factor.

well, when they're selling the game on foot-planting and streaming ESPN content, and the gameplay features are a little side-note, i think until we hear more it's safe to assume that their focus is certainly not on gameplay. their marketing focus certainly hasn't been.

i'm not hating anything because i like 2k better. i like 2k better because i hate the new features. there's a difference. 2k6 was the first 2k game i bought (i hired 2k5 just before 2k6 came out, because it was there and i'd heard it was a good game), and yes, i like it better than live. however, that gives me no reason to hate on the new features. ESPN integration is good, yes. it's what everone asked for in the wishlist? maybe a few did, but not everybody. i, for one, don't really care. HOWEVER, when they said 'ESPN Integration', i think you'll find they wanted commentators, scoreboards, graphic displays, half-time shows, pre-game shows, post-game shows, all that jazz. NOT streaming content from a perfectly watchable channel though regular television. That is only available on next-gen. what do current-gen users get? nothing. which current-gen users will actually give a damn about this? very few. i mean, why is it necessary? really? and, let's think about it, how many are going to be like Jae, think it will relate in some way to your dynasty, then find out it's streaming, and start breaking things? honestly, i don't care. this does not make me want to buy this game. and, for the record, i don't get espn radio, nor do i want it. the only espn television i get is some crappy half-assed thing with tractor pulling, scrabble, dominoes, food eating, poker, arm wrestling, and the other week they even had a freaking obstacle course. do i want streaming ESPN television? not really. what is the most featured program they will be streaming? Pardon The Interruption. Go figure. The biggest waste of half an hour on this planet. i certainly do not need to shut the fuck up, nor will i, because i have my right to free speech, and choose to exercise it. goodnight.

i'm sure it is a little incoherent, after all, it was one in the morning. however, i still stand by every single thing i said. and so far, they've said nothing about next-gen on PC.....so it probably won't be happening. ergo, it won't be worth buying, since patching is the only half-decent aspect of this game, and the only reason to buy this instead of 2k6. namely the NBL Live mod.

it's absolutly foolish to review a game and say it's "shit"....and not worth the money....but we've only seen 14 screens..4 vids and 2 or 3 previews....so lets wait for more infos....bevore we judge it!!!!

well the x factor maybe arcardish....but no one knows how strong it will be....ea was saying in those interviews that ist waaaaay harder to score....and i believe that it not will be so overpowerd....and in fact the x-factor isnt for game winners.....ist's to simulate the "crunchtime" players....and they are often playing amazing for about 4 minutes^^

and hey...keep in mind....its ea....they're doing games mostly for fun....and as it seems right now...we are getting the most realistic live.....EVER.....and thats fine^^....

I'm not saying the game is shit. I never said that at all. I said, this ESPN streaming stuff is shit. And, unless EA pulls some really good stuff out their asses between now and release (which may or may not happen), I much prefer to go with 2k7.

That stuff doesnt sound too bad, dont get why this has all the teenage hormones raging in this thread though. I am sure there are other features they will reveal later, its a step by step process. Its become trendy to whine about gameplay but the material out is so limited at this point its impossible to draw conclusions. EA has to be working on gameplay, thats what everybody is complaining about. They are also gradually reaching out to their fans as its obvious they may lose them in the future if they continue at their current pace, and Andrew will gracefully bomb their studios if he goes there and the game is shit.
