your other specs are ok but you'll probly hav to play at lower resolutions with a fx5200...

so any word on a release date for the pc version? does it come out for all the platforms at different times, or the same? god i can't wait, sick of 06 now... there's no mention of '07 on the easports website...

why ? i have 256 mb on this card :P to this day every game are on maximum details and it works very good

what games exactly are those? have you tried GRAW?FEAR?COD2? no way can an FX card play these games on max.

RAM isnt the key baby, its the chipset.

for 07, im thinking it should set its reqs at 128mb6600 at minumum.. that way, graphics would really be nice

Fx5200 is at least 3-4 years old and when it came out, it was supposed to be a mid-range card. I had one before, and it ran decently, but had to replace it not long after. I'm really hoping to take advantage of my 7800GT and Opteron 165 before they become old.

exact;y my point.. i upgraded my PC not long ago to play live, the thing is, i have to install more demanding games to make use of my upgrade.. live 2005/06 doesnt benefit gtom my XP2600+512RAM+9600XT to 643000(oc)+1024RAM+7600GT upgrade

not that were exactly asking for live to up the miniumum drastically ( dont mind myprevious post, i was high) but to push the max settings to give justice to current technology...

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I have a GeForce Go 7800 GTX, with 2GB of RAM, and a dual-core processor in my laptop, and much much better looking games can be run easily on my laptop (Oblivion, FEAR, Half-Life2, COD2) at near max settings. I know most of those are either FPS, or RPG games, but they all are on par and better than next-gen Live, graphics wise.

It's time.

Agreed totally. I am psyched for any Live 07 PC announcements, especially waiting for confirmation that is will be using their next-gen techs.

For those wondering what most people are -really- runnning [no rig-padding!], Valve ran their surveys earlier this year with some interesting results. And with the AMD/Intel price wars later this Summer/ Fall there is no reason not to at least pick up a badass CPU. Heck, go broke and build a whole new comp. ;]

i have a powerful PC, but i could care less if the game looks just like 06. Just as long as they fix the AI.

from the marketing point of view - they'd most probably add more spice and glamour features to be able to sell and attract new players.

But the priority would be to support the majority of pcs (implying support for low end PCs - w/c is actually the majority, not the high end ones). This though, unfortunately means, don't do any major overhaul. :( (Notice that there is no new platform every year.)

Of course, the high end pcs are still good part of the market share. So they'll add a dab here and there just enough to make us want for more. But bottomline is make the game playable for the market that will translate to more $$$. It's like the Blizzard mentality. make the game playable for the low end PCs, and playable for 5-10 years. hehe.

hopefully though, i hope they address issues of the loyal fanbase of this series. w/c usually comes up w/ the same qualms and gripes every year. :)

I didnt think that was possible either. Do they make 2gig single ddr cards because i thought you could only have 2 ddr slots on any mobo.

This may have already been stated my apoligies if I missed it.

I'd be surprised if the graphics took a big leap in '07 for the PC.

It doesn't make much sense for EA to do so. Direct X 9 is still the standard, and direct X 10 - which completely breaks from past versions - won't hit a mass market threshold by the time '07 releases if it's even out by then. To spend a great deal of resources on the graphics engine for PC gaming only to have to completely revamp it again once D10 comes out just doesn't make much sense. By '08 64 bit architecture will have a far greater foothold, and windows Vista should be out by then and DX 10 should have enough market penetration to justify the resources spent in revamping the series to take advantage of the new tools they'll be given.

Here's hoping they focus on fixing all the bugs and improving the gameplay in '07 so that they won't be spread so thin with thier resources revamping the engine and trying to fix the gameplay at the same time in '08.

My old rig:
Athlon XP2500+ @1.8
MSI GeForce Ti 4200 64 MB

My current rig:
AMD Opteron 165 @1.8
XFX 6800 Xtreme 256 MB DDR3

Last night I played Nba Live 06 in my new rig and guess what? I didn't see any improvement whatsover as far as graphics is concerned. what a fucking game EA is producing.

1. your opteron is not beeing clocked nowhere near where it should be, at least 2.4ghz default vcore, even though it may get easily to 2.7, 2.8 without sweating it.

2. 6800xt is a half decent card, as mid-range as it gets. it's gonna bottleneck your system like crazy in newer games, but in old games like nba live you can pretty much apply any type of filters to improve image quality (anisotropic - antialiasing) or increase the resolution.

Why do you have so much ram. After 2 gigs its really the proccessor and video card and hard drive that make the difference. No games out there are demanding enough for that much ram.

(not that im bragging as my rig isnt high end) but its a waste of pc power when the game still runs smooth playing it at 1280X1024 highest details 8xsAA and 16AF and still getting 100+ fps.. i hoe they address this as issue as i believe most PC users now have decent rigs.
who are they catering to? celeron owners with integrated video? people with those setups are ofice users. gamers pack power in their pcs

I like this guy. I hope they make it powerfull also for those of us with high end rigs.
