I hope that EA listens and release a patch soon

one question: What exactly does the Philippines and Filipinos have to do with this complaint on EA? Totally uncalled for warantless baseless racist remarks (N)

Tue Oct 03, 2006 3:04 am

Alright, lets say we find a lawyer stupid enough to sue EA over this. Then what? Who's going to pay that lawyer? Suing EA would require a NLSC representative to go to Canada and file the claim there since no court where you live would accept jurisdiction. Who the hell has the time for that anyway? Let's be realistic, this case wouldn't even make it to court.

Best bet is to contact the Canadian equivalent of consumer protection commission to look into it.

i totally agree with you on this. but i do believe that this could take time. A formal letter of request to EA Canada highlighting all the bugs that need be changed. In my opinion the formal request would be best be written by a lawyer stating all the bugs in black and white and requesting for immediate attention on the matter. I'm pretty sure we have a handful of lawyers here in the nlsc community who would be willing to draft a formal request.

Kudos to Donatello and the others for getting in touch with EA. I hope that all your efforts wont be in vain.

Cheers!

It could be included in the lawsuit that EA must also pay the NLSC's legal fees if EA loses the case. If EA wins, the NLSC is screwed.
That consumer protection idea isn't a bad one though.
Ralph Nader perhaps?

To paraphrase cyanide's words:

 Filipinos are not a race.

Just go to NBA Live 2005 General Issues section and try to read all the locked threads to know what the fuss is all about.

It will take at least 1-2 month b4 they release a patch. But I highly doubt they will ever release a patch.

benji wrote:The COO will order his underlings to make the patch, they'll make and release a patch that will fix a few things and introduce more "features" people will praise everyone and pat each other on the back and a horribly broken game will simply become a horrible game.

The massive bugs and amazingly shoddy work have covered over the crushing disappointment that would've been the game without the bugs. That fueled anger against the bugs that broke the game, which led to this.
I think it's time everyone stopped complaining and started being hopeful for future improvements.

Stop pointing out the problems and just silenty wait for our gods to bring us perfection.

It's not "EA bashing" to point out the absolute failings of a once proud company. We shouldn't be satisfied with a patch to make an inferior product playable. We should keep the pressure up until they actually make a good game again. Without the bugs Live is still merely mediocre. The bugs are the pinnacle of the lack of attention EA paid this title, the true display of that is how 2004-05 records come up in "Play Now!" or a large amount of the players have the same data in the players.dbf that they had in Live 06.

Hope the patch comes soon, so we can get to the root of the real problems with the game.

I couldn't agree more. Took the words out of my brain....

It's not realistic to sue EA. I'm not a full fledged lawyer, but being in my second year of Law, I can offer some insight, a judge would probably laugh his ass off at something so trivial.

So can we stop about the sueing of EA?

People have been sued over far less trivial shit!

Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:25 am

I won't deny that, I've read my share of "wtf" cases. None the less the costs of lawyers are still covered in those situations and I don't see any of you cheapskate richboys fork over any sort of cash. I mean people are shitting themselves for a $5 Basketball League set up by Matthew.

Big talks are nice and well, but they are just that, big talks. You are basically making yourself look like a fool. You're talking about doing something which you aren't capable or willing to do. You're just talking big because the idea was thrown out there and it sounds enticing and exciting, like a teenager reacting to war, it's all so exciting and new. Fact of the matter still remains you aren't in a position to sue a company like EA based on what you have right now, which is just a game full of errors and a "typing mistake" on a website, because that is exactly how they'll defend themselves. The worst that could happen is that the EA Sports webdesigner is relieved of his duty.

Stop acting as if you know what course of action you're going to take, stop acting as if you know you're going to succeed, stop acting as if you've got a rock solid case. EA, as a company, will rip you a new asshole.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:55 am

Well said. Even I think EA should be sued. But to take the subject seriously is a waste of time.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:57 am

LOL guys you can sued EA but you won't get anything. Why? EA will tell the court that they are making the best patch to fix the fucking problems at the moment so you can't do any shit.

I'm so glad you're back in action, Jackal. It's nice to have another level headed mind in this place amongst the children, spouting off aimless nonsense.

Anyways, moving on from the "sueing EA" option. Here's a big, nice, juicy "FUCK YOU" from EA, to its' fans.

This is in response to my letter which can be read above:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting EASPORTS Customer Support. I'm sorry for the difficulties you are experiencing.

I'm very sorry for the frustration you are experiencing with NBA Live 07 for PC. The NBA Live 07 game development team and producers are responsible for the design and concept for all the functions and game play. We very much appreciate your feedback and will forward your message to the game development team and producers, so they can collect feedback to enhance and implement corrective measures for next years NBA Live title. At EA, we appreciate feedback from our customers as it is our goal to make sure our customers are delighted with their purchase. I'm very sorry if NBA Live 07 did not meet your gaming standards. Again, I'm very sorry for any inconveniences.

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. Have a great day.

Translation of the bold bits:

We very much appreciate your feedback and will forward your message to the game development team and producers, so they can collect feedback to enhance and implement corrective measures for next years NBA Live title.

Thanks for wasting your time by e-mailing us, we'll tell the development team some dude wasn't happy with the shit we put out. We'll think about fixing it next year. This year? Lmfao.

I'm very sorry if NBA Live 07 did not meet your gaming standards.

Who cares if it's supposed to be a basketball simulation? In real life the teams never substitute, so you asking for substitution is just a gamers standard. We're sorry we don't meet up to it. Better luck next year.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 7:46 am

That is totally evil.....I don't know what to say.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 7:49 am

LOL :D Man this EA shit can make me laugh sometime.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 7:59 am

I think they have a scripted auto-answering e-mail... Live 07 not meeting your gaming standards, that's something new.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 8:07 am

hello everyone, if anyone still remembers me, i joined since nba live 2005..which is basically the yeear 2004 i think  , but any ways.. as an nba live fan/player, i've been dissapointed again, i may not have the game but i am NOT dissappointed by the game but rather as consumer being ignored. in most cases we've been nice to EA, and asking for a patch..but honestly..saying we'll improve NEXT years game as response is definitely not a good one. It's really hurting me and probably other consumer can BE ignored and treat like that. sorry about my bad grammar, but i'd like to give a suggestion for all those who are deeply hurt by EA Sports ignorance. According to my business teacher, if the store/ service is treating you un-fairly, why go back or use the same service again. If all fails, then i suggest we all just switch to the 2k series. I think if i was big company, that would be THEE stupidest way to lose customers. I believe doing business if not for profit, but rather earn a living AND give pleasure/happiness for your loyal customers. But i am seriously wondering if EA has the same view..even though i already know they don't think that way

enough about my random and probably useless statement, i'd just love to say i love this forum, and i admire those people are using a calm mind to handle this issue. just to talk more about me  i really enjoy this series, and i WAS extremely motivated to buy this game in the begining of the year, but i have lost it. I think it's such a shame, such a product with soo much potential can go down like that. Thanks all for reading :P and i apologize for my bad or lazy typing habits

That's my favorite statement in this lovely message...
These lazy ass fuckers... (N) (N)

I got a reply. I think we're getting through to them.

 He appreciates your feedback! So much in fact, he forwarded it to the game development team and producers so they can look at the substitution bug closely and make sure that won't happen again. Durrr, bug gone, make new bug! Either that, or upon recieving, it goes under "delete."

EA Script wrote:At EA, we appreciate feedback from our customers as it is our goal to make sure our customers are delighted with their purchase.

Wow, that's quite a goal. I mean, making sure your customers are delighted with their purchase? Hoo boy, maybe the first step is to create a quality product? Maybe create something that doesn't have the biggest bug known to date? I mean, wow. That's going into my long-ass sig.

Hmmm, I'm guessing it might not be good news if Donatello's not posting anything about it...
