Kobe fans are exactly like Kobe himself. LeBron is better statistically... I wouldn't mind which way it went with Kobe/LBJ at the top

Thu Sep 21, 2006 6:11 am

They don't base the overall rating on offense alone. LeBron has much better skills in different areas- like passing and rebounding.

I don't really see what the big deal is over the overall ratings of players and comparing how one player is say 95 and the other say 94, as long as you can edit the individual ratings in the game I couldn't really care how the overall ratings are right now.

Thu Sep 21, 2006 6:45 am

The ratings suck, i think that current gen will be stuck with the fewer stats(less work for Andrew anyway  )
I mean guys like francis, marbury with 98,98 teamwork, Bruce bowen defense 80 and James' is 97?
Wade midrange 90 and Redd's 85 that's just plain ridiculous wade is WAAAY worse than redd on his midrange jumper
TimmyD is 89 overall?
I mean come the guys buying the game for the console version are going to play with rating that approach random...

Thu Sep 21, 2006 7:03 am

First of all, the ratings sometimes can be deceptive and actully you never know how good a player is until you try him in Live 07.

So just calm down until the game comes out.

Thats not the only thing what looks wrong there, those ratings are bullshit anyways,Tmac is a lot better than vince???? like omfg, hell no.
Especially if we look last season ratings....
And KG isnt that low also, hes still one of the best players in the nba.
Francis and Marbury should be like around 70 r smt, they both suck
EGOmeter should be 99 for them.

ummm T-Mac beats Vince in every per game catagory, plus he was plaugued with back problems. You basically just shot yourself down.

err,who the hell cares about that injury stuff?
Vince had injuris also.
Plus tmac gets more play time.plus he doesnt beat vince in every stat.Vince has few stats what are better than tmac`s.
So Tmac isnt alot better than Vince like u said here before.
But oh well,i dont need to discuss about this with u here,u dont get the point anyways.too bad.

Injuries matter alot, they take away your ability to play the game.

Plus tmac gets more play time.plus he doesnt beat vince in every stat.Vince has few stats what are better than tmacs.

T-Mac gets 0.3 minutes more playing time than Carter, are you fucking serious? And since T-Mac played far less games than Vince, per game statistics are all you can compare.

But oh well,i dont need to discuss that thing with u here,u dont get the point anyways.too bad.

The only thing I can tell from your NBA knowledge/The fact you proved yourself wrong is that:

1. Your extremely stupid

2. Your about 13 and think a players ability to dunk the ball makes them great... Darvin Ham for MVP

HAha,i think you dont know nothing about the nba, look 04-05 season statistics and then come and talk.Vince playid less games that tmac and hes still better.you just made your day with that injury talk, nicely done chuck.
Vince still is better than tmac so keep it up bro.
13 or not but at least i know more

smarter one will end that crap,so byebye billy.
and kobe for MVP

Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:08 am

I love all the new Cats, some of the rating for individual players definetely seem way off.

Dont forget that the rating should speculate how a player might play this upcoming season. Not to mimic what they did last season.

Thats why lebron should be rated alittle higher than Kobe IMO

and ps

Tmac> VC

Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:39 am

Are yall serious?? How can yall argue about the diffrence between carter and mcgrady ratings.....It seems pretty fair to me, carter got 89 and mcgrady got 93.....thats fair if youlook at the fact that mcgrady only played 49 games last season.....Do you think McGrady is supposed to have like a 8-10 point difference between carter?? HELL NO, you must be thinkin of the carter that played for toronto

Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:40 am

Lol, that was funny that guy put his knowledge down by posting that statistics crap.

It's easy to tell that t-mac is better. Did you forget about the year where t-mac

averaged 32 and still had 5.5 assists. One injury-plagued half a season don't

mean crap.

Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:58 am

Wow! I was looking at the roster and ratings and just to add on top of the stuff

we've witnessed. Rafer Alston(aka skip to my lou) Streetball legend, with a crazy

handle has a dribble of 68!!! And guess what Yao Ming's dribble is 83. I cut Ea

some slack for having so many ratings to have to get right but that's just hilarious

.   :o :o :o :!:

Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:09 am

One thing you all are forgetting is that these ratings dont necissary indicate a players skills in real life. These ratings are just numbers that make the game play realistically. So maybe a few of the statistics seem a little bit off when you compare two of them head to head. I seriously doubt that people from EA are going to argue taht Yao can dribble better than Mike James. The ratings are the way they are because they allow a player to most closely resemble their human abilities in a video game. What really matters is how accurate these video game players resemble the way their real life selves play basketball. Simply comparing 2 ratings and making a conclusion based on that is dimwitted.

Well, lets compare each players stats since the season they split up until the past season. Then I'll add up the PPG/RPG/APG and the final number will give us a good impression of who the superior player is (at least statistically). The winner will be marked with an x.

05/06 McGrady: 24.4ppg 6.5rpg 4.8apg = 35.7 x

05/06 Carter: 24.2ppg 5.8rpg 4.3rpg = 34.3
-------------------------------------------------------------------
04/05 McGrady: 25.7ppg 6.2rpg 5.7apg = 37.6 x

04/05 Carter: 24.5ppg 5.2rpg 4.2apg = 33.9
-------------------------------------------------------------------
03/04 McGrady: 28.0ppg 6.0rpg 5.5apg = 39.5 x

03/04 Carter: 22.5ppg 4.8rpg 4.8apg = 32.1
-------------------------------------------------------------------
02/03 McGrady: 32.1ppg 6.5rpg 5.5apg = 44.1 x

02/03 Carter: 20.6ppg 4.4rpg 3.3apg = 28.3
-------------------------------------------------------------------
01/02 McGrady: 25.6ppg 7.9rpg 5.3apg = 38.8 x

01/02 Carter: 24.7ppg 5.2rpg 4.0apg = 33.9
-------------------------------------------------------------------
00/01 McGrady: 26.8ppg 7.5rpg 4.6apg = 38.9 x

00/01 Carter: 27.6ppg 5.5rpg 3.9apg = 37.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Judging by that, McGrady has been the better player ever since they were on separate teams. 6 full seasons away from each other, 6 superior seasons for Tracy McGrady.

Know your stuff before you start a debate.

None this year, these ratings are for the Next Gen version only.

Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:42 am

^^ what? so its just the standard rating system from the past versions on the current gen??

:(

Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:48 am

That's correct.

Well that certainly sucks. :?

What possible obstacle could there be to applying those rating to the PC version? The version with an online community that LOVES tinkering with every aspect of the game and ratings

Thats a massive let down for me...

And i cant believe some people bitching about 1 overall ratings point to the favourite player lol Like it matters.

The important thing is the game itself which cant be changed. We cant add rating categories that give depth to the players and really distiguish one style of player from another. Thats what we should be concerned with...Arguing over Kobe vs Lebrons ratings is like argueing about chocolate and strawberry icecream

Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:53 am

i really can't believe it, i know the current gen cant handle all 85 new ratings, but surely there will be new additions in current gen... otherwise its guna play like every other version
