make a trading block where I put a player and people offer guys for him.
Make it a little easier to stop freestyle dunks
Have players make face expressions after a nice/big shot or foul.
DO NOT TAKE OUT DYNASTY MODE (only reason I ever enjoyed nba live for a long time)

Tue Jan 10, 2006 4:35 pm

- concentrate and improve on current features (tweaking) especially the all-important gameplay, and less new features, although i'm sure ea will bring out new features for marketing purposes

- lessen the superstar effectiveness

- bring back the clutch rating

- save game

- actual training camp

- customize the superstar buttons for players with multiple freestyle superstar capabilities

Jugs wrote:USING A FSS ABILITY LOWERS YOUR FATIGUE DRAMATICALLY: This is one way that could limit FSS abuse, let's say, when going for a highflying move, it usually takes a lot of energy to jump up high and do a windmill, this should cut your fatigue level by a sixth so if you abuse it, you can only use it 6 times until your player gets extremely tired and not able to be as effective. I dont know if you guys get what I mean, but by making a player lose a bit more energy when doing a highflyer-dunk than going for a lay-up would do me fine.

- fatigue depends on what type of activities the person is doing, fatigue because of guarding certain players, because of taking too many shots, or just by running too much, and of course, the freestyle moves, not just on constant draining of stamina when the player is on court

- more sliders for more gameplay customization (eg. momentum slider)

- separate user freethrow silders with computer freethrow sliders

- add player tendencies, so if wade's drive tendency is 100 and three point tendency is 0, he would drive at almost every opportunity, while a three point tendency of 100 like allen will shoot at almost every time the player is open

-save replays especially for the PC

- ability to pass while doing layups

- add a player-team chemistry rating. the team chemistry should be able to affect how the team plays on court and on simulations (eg. ron artest is good, but he messes with the team chemistry.)

- hiring/firing coaches. the coaches SHOULD have an effect on the team.

- breakaway (clear-path) fouls, and the free throw plus possession

- Maybe the layup button should also be based on the amount of time the button is pressed and released, much like the peak of the jump for the shot button. However, i do not know at which point it should be released (for the shoot button, it is at the peak of jump). Maybe the layup should also be released at the peak of jump when the player is near the rim. You can release before the peak of jump (or tap) although the effectivity is lessened. I think this would improve the experience because you actually control the layup shot much like in real life, just as the shoot button controls the jump shot as you would in real life, rather than simply pressing the button, and relying on the ratings of the player. In this way, the players can also avoid shot blocks if they want much like altered shots

drop the 1 on 1 mode and make it 2 on 2 or 3 on 3,
more cutscenes, make it really a career with movies,
and make the scoring more realistic,
because when i play 8 minutes quarters ik end up with 140-130,
and this doesn't even occur with 12 minutes quarters in real life,
i agree with the rest of the things that the others said

Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:19 pm

i think the dynasty mode should be like the franchise mode off NFL. U shuld be able 2 change cities n rename ur team n buy coaches(not only assitants n stuff) so u can like kick out Phil Jackson etc if u dont like them n sign a new coach.

07 shuld also have the D league in it. and there should be more players in the free agents list wit ppl from like euro league n stuff.

They shuld also release their own official roster patches n stuff, so Andrew wont have 2 spend so much time makin roster patches 4 us. (btw nice work on the Roster patches Andrew)

Add other all star weekend events

Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:33 pm

improve the graphics
better dunk pack system
weaken freestyle superstar
GTA style in dynasty mode
try to imitate a TV broadcast

Personalized players names

Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:51 pm

I would love it if after 2-3 season's in dynasty mode, the majority of players will not be "number 10" or "great dunk by number 45" in other word's – EA can certainly make the commentators sit down and record a group of random names (first name and family name) which we can select and combine so we can give our new rookie players. That way I can still get a personal feeling to the teams and especially the team I play with – even after all the big names and the real players have retired. In live 2003 there was an option to give the players nicknames – I think EA can do even more than that- but in live 06 even that option is gone.

Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:57 pm

Um, is there currently a FSS ability that concentrates on people that just drive in and score, kinda like Tony Parker/Allen Iverson. I know Outside scorer is more of a shooting thing and Inside scorer is more of a hook shot type thing. But there should be one for like Tony Parker where you drive in and either go up and under and around the defender or just flick the ball up or other things...

I'm not sure :?

Wed Jan 11, 2006 12:14 am

The ability to more easily create legends and players who retired. Ability to edit headshapes (ala Live 2004). Ability to name player accessories and jerseys on an individual basis, that is, you can assign a 'home' jersey for a player and that jersey will always be his 'home' jersey (ala Live 2004).

Also, the ability to add/edit the announcer audio files, which we had in Live 2003 and somewhat in 2006....

Wed Jan 11, 2006 12:22 am

Are they going to have weekly or monthly update music songs! so we can have latest music and songs hip-hop or so and so...

are there going to have somehow more practice game eg there are one on one game , make it 2 on 1 or 2 on 2 or 3 on 2 or 5 on 1 or 3 on 5 so and so.. this will be much fun!!! like streets play which there are not always have 5 ppl in a team..something we play 5 on 3 lol!

The most important, If THERE ARE MORE FERTURES like SUPERSTAR can they just have TRAINING and TUTORIAL IN THE GAME not at the videos at the website just put in the game itself. And can we have more guides for the game play if there are new moves. Eg. To have a button to on a animation of showing how make the move like wat it is on the video but can we have the help of wat button is need to press to active the moves in the game? If that happen I will no have too much problem with my slam dunk challange.. If I challange computer in slamdunk compition I can see wat button or the left or right anlog stick move the computer had press and the best is we can save and replay with wat computer was doing.

I guess that Im quite clear up.,,,

Wed Jan 11, 2006 2:36 am

oh, and how about the ability to save a game in progress? That way you could play a longer game against the pc in dynasty mode and not have to quit if you gotta leave.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:10 am

how about saving your playbook settings? I get tired of picking my offensive and defensive plays all over again for every game I play.

How about executing improving the AI a bit... cpu can't properly execute a 1-3-1 zone defense properly (have you noticed that the computer sometimes messes with your zone plays, sending someone off to the otherside of the court so that the cpu's player can drive in?)

if you've "broken" someone's ankles because you did a mean cross over there should be a recovery time.

same with rebounding, players that are "flaying" (is that right? flaying? like the animation guys who get physically banged up when you did a BIG dunk) should'nt be able to get/rebound balls even if they're infront of them.

in-game saving... that would be a nice addition... like in 2000.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:17 am

oh yeah I forgot this.... I dunno if this really happens in real life... 7foot 6 inch players got blocked by a 6 foot player.... is that possible? This should be fixed and eliminated in 2k7

one more CPU "cheat"... your players slow down chasing balls/fast breaks even if they're in front of the CPU's player... one time the player controlled player just froze... did'nt even respond to left key or right key with turbo... this should be fixed also in 2k7 (if it's possible to fix it in 2k6 that'll be great)

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:20 am

better AI for the announcers/color announcement.... sometimes steve kerr says that it's a wide open shot even though 2 guys just tried to block the shot...

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:30 am

andrewjpyoung, next time edit your first post...

Um, I had another idea, where like on certain selected days of the off-season trade period, you could go to a special menu with your trade block (please put trading block in) and you could check who's interested for your players on the block and you could have a discussion with the gm where you can easily check out contracts and other roster things with the other GM and you can put different offers on the table and they can see if they like it or not (kinda like instant trade reply in live 2004, but only in this mode) and also you could ring other GM's and do a 3 team trade (please put tthis on). Then eventually the timer will run out and a trade can not be done.. This could also work on the days leading up to the trade deadline.

I dont know if you understand what i'm saying, I seem to be babbling out my ideas in a non-readable way....

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:10 am

Don't know if EA would consider this a real flashy selling point but..... how about putting in the D league? That way you could send rooks down there in dynasty mode and even play d league games if you want. It couldn't be that hard to put it in, since they have two minor leagues in the 2005 baseball game.

SAVE GAME FIX

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:20 am

NUMBER ONE COMPLIANT - NOT ABLE TO SAVE GAMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME!!!!! I've been really missing this since 2000!

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:23 am

First of all, I'd like to point out giftedvisionz's post. In my opinion these are the most important thing so far.

And...

Jugs wrote:USING A FSS ABILITY LOWERS YOUR FATIGUE DRAMATICALLY

Here's mine.

Gameplay

-Fix the rebounding.

As said before, it's terrible. Not only the amount of offensive rebounds but overall. In the game players always jump 5 feet to some random direction, very often away from the ball. This results too many balls falling to the floor. Players should jump straight up when standing in a fixed position. Only a moving player should jump towards the direction he was moving to.

-Improve the passing.

THE PLAYER CATCHING THE BALL MUST SEE IT. Nobody catches a 30 foot pass, while turning himself towards the ball at the last second.

The full court passes are too accurate and use too much the jump and catch animation.

And there's way too much lob passes. A fake pass a la '99 would be nice.

-Fix the unstoppable shots.

Oh yeah, remove/fix the moves that are 100% accurate. The reverse layup and alley-oop-layup for an example.

Only layers wide open and close to the basket should be able to shoot almost 100%.

-CPU AI

CPU's defensive AI is good for the other teams, but the CPUs on my team are a flock of sheep. Do something about it.

As for the offensive AI, make the CPU use more plays, make them do smarter passes and stop one man (usually the PG) holding the ball for the entire offensive set and then taking the shot. Don't forget to fix the CPU standing under the hoop with the ball for about 3 seconds with no movement and fix the CPU running straight out of bounds.

Animations

-Fix the god damn net!

-Realistic movement, please!

Remove the circus-shot. The one when you're fouled. It's awful. Remove re-adjusting your shot to the wrong side of the backboard. Less fancy dunks, more boring dunks that they do in traffic in the real NBA. No dunks through the backboard.

-Realistic collisions, please.

No ball going through players, no player's hands going through other players. No players falling through the floor, etc.

The court shouldn't be an invisible cage, pad passes should fly into the stands, players should be able to move until the banners and first row of spectators.

Dynasty Issues

-More stats!

Team averages! Player averages in "View Player" Team records a la '99. Player records! Efficiency!

In a game, please add points in the paint and points from fast breaks fields to the team stats.

Season averages and current game statistics to the Substitution menu.

Box Scores for playoff games, please.

-Trades

Improve CPU trading logic. Make CPUs trade between themselves, mostly in off-season.

Multi-player trades!

If possible, three team trades.

Strategy

The ability to save offensive and defensive strategies for all teams in every save. (Roster/Dynasty/Playoff/Season)

A way to view plays and set them to a team before the game, in the menus.

Animated previews would be nice.

Coaching

-More specific training.

I want to train Scoring/Outside Scoring/Ball Handling/Rebounding/Inside Defense/Outside Defense/Strength/Speed. Offense/Defense/Athletics is to general.

-PDA Coaching News

No coaching news around the league, please. Atleast not 10 of them every week. Maybe just bigger changes, something like "Frye has improved his overall from 70 to 75 during the last three months" (during the last season?).

Drafting

-See all the information at the draft. (Height, weight, age, potential, projected)

-Fix Generated rookies.

Too small Cs, too small PGs. Mostly the speed and dribbling rating are way too low. The draftees' athletics should be already good.

And don't make some of them look like 40-year olds.

Commentary

-Stats

"Player X has been averaging about .... this season/last games/against team Z/at home/after the injury/after the trade" All that you can ever think of.

-Generated Rookies

We want their names said. Even only the last names would be enough.

-Emotion

When the game is on the line then the commentators should act like it.

Cameras/Replay

-A TV Broadcast View

If the deal with ESPN won't bring that, then I can't understand why did you sign it.

-Real Replay Cams

Shown by courtside cameras, that don't move themselves. From the corners, center court, under the hoop, the backboard cam behind the glass and the one straight above the paint.

-Instant Replays

I want to see the last-sec shot after the buzzer. I want to see the last play after/during the timeout. I want to see the play after the four being called. And I want the default game camera angles and the ones from my previous point.

THE MENU FOR PC

Do not, I repeat, do not port the console menu to PC. Atleast not when it's 640x480. Make it 1024x786. I want to see the whole roster without scrolling, make some quick-menues, etc.

It's the only god damn basketball game for PC, give your best for those PC users!
:) :shifty:

Ugh, yeah, graphics
Bigger resolution textures? Not that important. Make it look a bit like the 360. Different shoe-types? (Low/Med/High) And as someone said before, 3D accessories would be nice, I mean the other bands besides the headband. The headbands' edge is too sharp, make them smooth maybe?

[ ] => ( )

Wed Jan 11, 2006 8:51 am

They should also fix the unstopable last seconds of game 3-pointers, that's very annoying. I think that they should add more stats in the dynasty like the ones that heiks has said. (Y) (Y) (Y)

Wed Jan 11, 2006 9:06 am

They should add an update so if you have 06 you can get 07 for cheaper.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 9:56 am

i think cut sccenes should really be back.. i loven in live 04 when u signed a player and he appearedgreeting the other temmates or the draft, and the player receivein the award, even the coach..
other simple thing like ingame saves and create-a-team sould be brought back
and i agree with the idea of a player loosing stamina when doing a superstar move.. another thing sould be u to be able to mix the fss abilities like highflyer, scorer, so to each player you configure a different set of fss

Widescreen support ffs!!!!

Wed Jan 11, 2006 11:34 am

EA need to get the message - it's not hard to allow for widescreen resolutions in games. So they should damn well do it... Playing stretched really sucks...

/drdaz

how i wish diz wud come true

Wed Jan 11, 2006 2:13 pm

I WISH THAT EA WUD FIND A WAY HOW TO ENABLE OR CREATE "AI CROWD" MEANING THAT IF THE HOME TEAM IS DOWN BY 20 OR 30 IN THE GAME WITH LETS SAY 2 MINS LEFT THE CROWD SHUD SLOWLY DISAPPEAR U KNOW WAT I MEAN? THEIR TEAM IS HOPELESS ITS A LOSS SO WHAT SHOULD THEY DO THEY GO HOME RYT.. THEY MUST NOT STILL BE THERE AND CHEER AS IF ITS A CRUCIAL GAME OR PLAYOFFS JUST A THOUGHT DIZ WUD GIV US MORE REALISTIC GAMEPLAY AND I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE HOME CROWD ALSO CHEER AND APPLAUD TO THE VISITING TEAM THIS SHUD NOT BE THE CASE IT SHUD BE SHEER SILENCED CROWD OR OOOHS AND AHHHS REACTION WENEVER AN AWAY TEAM MAKES A BASKET AND I HOPE THAT THEY WUD ADD UP RANDOM HALFTIME SHOWS SPECIALLY IN THE PLAYOFFS LIKE SPECIAL CELEBRITY APPEARANCE I KNOW THEY CAN DO THAT ... INVITE RAPPERS AND STUFF THAT WUD BE GREAT... :D

Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:18 pm

1. More realistic movements
2. Make Dynasty Mode into an RPG/SPORTS
3. More excitement from your teamates on the bench whenever someone makes a good play.
4. Bring back re-replays for good plays.
5. Half time report with re-plays.
6. Allow to save the game at any point.

Wed Jan 11, 2006 5:42 pm

Hi there.
First of all: I know I'm a bit new in this forum, but I'd like to point out i'm following the NLSC website since 1996 - when it was all about Lutz & Tim.

Now, unlike some other fellows who repeated others' suggestions, I feel we need to differentiate and sort out the improvements:

(1) Graphics, Sounds, Art, sidelines, cut-out scenes, etc. : YES, I would like to them improved too (I believe that 2k6 was too similar to 2k5), BUT, besides gameplay animations I think that every improvement in that field would be a Bonus. Yes, I know that a lot of gamers want this area to be critically improved, but personally I'd like a far-better AI and gameplay-ability.

(2) GAMEPLAY. To my opinion, that's what EA should work on the next year (even two, as such members has offered). All of you who played the series for several years: go back to Live '97, or Live '99. Can you notice the difference? Huge. Now, don't you sell me the s**t about "reaching the peak", or "it's difficult to improve a good game". No, I say: Implement better Physics; Define Players as "2 Legs, 2 Hands, One Torso" - I think most of you know what I mean! Is it that hard to makea player out of different parts, or move in a more humanly way? I'll try to give a few examples.

A. Lebron dribbling to the basket, slowing - almost sliding - then the balls almost "sticks" to his hand, the defender of course at this point unable to steal the ball, then Lebron jumpes out of the place into a SLAM-JAM taken out of arcade mode, and dunks over a player who SUDDENLY can't foul or even put his body into Lebron... I mean, maybe this could happen in real life, but once in a season, not every game!
B. Shaq defends Ostertag. Now, of course O'Neal is stronger and quicker, but if Greg is near the basket and puts his body againsy Shaq, and trys to hook - how come O'Neal blocks the shot WITHOUT LIFTING HIS LEGS FROM THE FLOOR? Yes, he can block the one-inch-taller Ostertag, but it would require him a bit more effort...

I think you got my meaning, the players interaction - though improved - should be much better. YES, it has been improved over the last 3 years, but then again, it can be SO much better; as to the passes mentioned in an earlier Post, I do think that the offensive teammates (controlled by CPU, of course) could be more alert, or at least, pretend to... It's like they're so into the offensive drill, that I can't surprise that CPU by a fast pass or such. I truly think that most gamers would aprreciate better AI over crowd-animation, or cut-out secnes; After all, what is getting annoying as time goes bY? CPU stupidity, not repetetive annoucement.

One last thing (to a long post, I know): to all of you gamers who use keyboard (like I do!) - admit it, the simulation effect of controlling-players would never be even close to that of Gamepad. Sorry for putting it like that, but it's true: arrows and lot-of-keys can't compete with Gamepad (again, I'm using keyboard- it's the sad truth...).

I'd say it again: MUCH, MUCH needed better controlling of players - even building the whole graphics engine from scratch, if needed. It can't be that in the year of 2006 the players would move like high-definition-robots! Just map out movements of 10-15 different players (yes, i'm not exaggerating!), with different styles. As to game-testing, try to do all the UNEXPECTED moves to know that's the game's perfect: Mourning shooting fadeaway from the 3pt line. Boykns stands for a charge against Duncan. Marbury defending Garnett in the low-post. Ming drives from the 3pt line, trying to get past Frye. All those un-realistic situations could tell if the ratings & animations have been implented truly!

That's all... thanx for having the time to read!

Ehud

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:02 pm

I don't understand exactly what the "skating" is, can somebody please explain it?

I seriously have no clue what "skating" in nba live is.....

And I hate the unstopped alley-oop lay-up :x
