Changing plays, defence mode and players

Hi

I'm new to NBA live 07 just got it yesterday. I've got a question.
I bought the game mostfully to manage teams (so Dynasty mode).

Now i'm playing with the miami heat.I've gotten staff and gotten to the first few matches wich i won. I always watch the game so i don't controll the players and just let the cumputer controll mine to.But when in the game i'd also like to change the offensive and defensive plays.For example i'm losing with 4 points and i'm in the 4rth quarter, then i'd like to set my defence to full court man to man press. and maybe i'm down by more so i'd like to take my chance on 3-points offesively.
Where can i do so?

And where can i take players off the court during a game?
For example i'd like to take O'neal off and put another player on the court.

Is this all possible in NBA live 07? or should i get 08?

I see that you are a NBA Live beginner. If you like to replace the players that is on the court all you have to do is Substitute them through the Substitution menu via the Pause Menu.

About the changing of plays. I think you can change the plays by pressing the 1 to 4 keys (not the numpad, on the top of the keyboard just below the function button(is that what they called?).)

Right, but I think he has to switch control to his team in the "select controller" menu. After changes switch again like how it was before and continue the game.

So its kind of a trick around the game no?
It seems to work but is NBA live 08 better in this aspect?
So can i change players and tactics without the trick around the system in 08?

I don't think so. You always have to select the team as controlled to make any changes.

Early games in the series allowed you a kind of de facto coaching mode as you could call plays and substitute without assigning control to a team but that hasn't been possible for a long time.
