Re-signing players - what a joke

Sun Dec 31, 2006 10:59 am

Re-signing players is really getting on my nerves. The stupid agents never actually tell you why the deal is no good. I'm getting annoyed by these rude replies that tell nothing to improve the potential deal. Apparently I'm really pissing off a computer player. Then they broke off the negotiations. Anyone know a better way to "negotiate" other than save the dynasty beforehand and continually try until you get it right? :?

Maybe you could do it with .dbf editing somehow?

Are you offering the player the exact deal they're after? When a player refuses to negotiate like that it usually means they don't want anything except the deal that's on the table. If you are giving them exactly what they (reportedly) want, it usually means they want a more generous contract, though unfortunately their desired deal nor the rejection messages reflect that.

If they refuse any offer, it usually means they simply have no interest in resigning which could be reflected by their feelings and feedback in Team Chemistry management. Again, it would be better if the game actually explicitly stated this rather than rejecting offers on the basis of the player being "insulted" by the offers, generous or otherwise.

The players want too much money.

Even my 11th pick player (computer generated rookie)'s rookie contract was over, he demanded 12 million.. I signed him cuz he was valuable.. 6"7 pg 212lbs quick, sharp shooting, highflyer, good passer, just bad defense) when he had to resign after his 4 yr contract (he was 31 yrs old), he wanted 16 million per year for next 5 yrs. not even kidding. He was like 6-7th man in my rotation (played as starter if one of my guard went down).

And another drafted guy, who played like 40 some games in 4 season, wanted 2.75 million per year for 4 yrs.

I played up to 2019 in fantasy draft. Even when they're 35 yrs old, they still demand 15-17 million per for like 3-4 yrs.
