What are some tips and tricks for live for Playstation 2? What are some things abused and ways to stop it? What are some things to remember? What are some easy ways to score? Any strategies would be helpful. Thanks

I will never understand people who need strategies for a sports game. Have you ever heard of the sport/played? apply real life strategies to your game and you'll win. I shake my head every time i see people purchase a strategy guide for a sports game made by EA

but now your question: Strategy really depends on who your using and what team, and even your own personal preference. Some people like to play balanced games, some like to play post games, some like to play perimeter games...as for D, you have man to man, zone, basic components of basketball....what specifically do you need help with tonkamike? put the ball in the hole, its a pretty simple game...In this edition of live however, Freestyle Superstars are the secret to cheaply winning every game...

i'm just wondering because it seems every time i do a pick and roll the ball will go in, regardless of whether i'm contested, but if I try and run the ball in myself, it never goes in. I understand the general plays in basketball, but when I play the computer, they blow by me in the post. I try and drive, and they stop me easily. Is there a certain thing that must be remembered when defending drives? Do you just push the joystick against them or something? Is there a specific thing to remember when driving that helps me blow by them? They just seem to dominate me on both ends. Also, when is a good time to use superstar moves? Is there a certain distance? Whenever I use them against the computer I get swatted.

I don't normally have these problems against human opponents. Is the AI just stacked or something?

AI being stacked? what level are you playing on? this game is harder than past lives but is by no means "stacked" unless you play on superstar or have customized your sliders...there is always that option for you: tweak the sliders for you and cpu...after a pick and roll play i'm guessing the program when you go around the "roll" says you are open and the shots do fall easier. Do you use CPU or user control of the shot? That could be a big part. Who are you driving with? if you're trying to drive with non big men against the likes of shaq, you're going to get swatted unless the lane is completely free. usually if you're driving to not get swatted/a foul called on you, you have to blow by your opponent before or at the 3pt line for me...its why i play a post game however. use your big men in the paint and when you get doubled, kick it out to the open guards seems to work wonders. Superstar moves depend on each player. For instance, you dont want use power/highflyer/inside scorer from the 3 pt line. Go check out the superstar moves list stickied at the top of this forum and it should help you out. I use Power and inside scorer far too often because the others are too inconsistent for my taste.

as for your D, you're playing too tight on your man it sounds like...think about it in a real life situation, if you play a couple steps back from a player, you have a step to anticipate where he's going ot be and a step to get there: if you play right on them, one move and your done...let me know if this helps and seriously, apply some r/l strategies: pick and roll is a good start, the kicking out i mentioned above works well etc.

On D, don't control the PG. Control either the SF or SG and go in for help defense and rebounds.

I end up using the spin move about 4-5 times a trip down the court. I know it sounds excessive, but the move works 8 out of 10 times. Do a spin, drive with your PG and shoot if you're open or pass if not.

Using the above strategy, let's assume you pass it out. Either do a quick dish to a big man for an easy dunk or throw it out to the perimeter. Shoot it if you're open, pass if you're not. Usually a couple passes after the initial pass is ideal for an easy shot.

Don't get stuck in a half-court offense; instead, always try to get a fastbreak going.

Watch the runs by the computer. If he gets 6 or so in a row, call a timeout and make sure you get a dunk on your next shot.
