Refs suck in this game

Sat Oct 21, 2006 5:21 am

They call everything on me and nothing on the opposing team. Is there such a thing as home court advantage programmed into this game?

The cpu (usually the PG), would bum rush towards the basket and if I was in the way, I'd always get called for a foul. Meanwhile, on the other end, I could get clotheslined (ala John Starks) and there's no whistle. WTF? The global sliders would change both teams foul frequency, not this imbalance.

I totally agree with you! Aside from the huge bug in substitutions this is my only other major gripe. My guy just stands there doesn't move is bowled over and blocking is called. Blocking is when the player slides into the way of the driving player, not just standing there.

Shaq ran me over and they didnt call shit.

Oh wait.

That happens in real life too.

Sat Oct 21, 2006 8:24 am

I really can't disagree with this  But it seems a lot better than 06 IMO.

Sat Oct 21, 2006 11:50 am

yeah its pretty bad. Its almost useless trying to get to the freethrow line. I havent taken more than 10 freethrows in this game yet. but the computer is getting like 20 attempts a game... Unbalanced is not the word.

JWL, i found jacking up the global sliders, while it was much stricter...it is actually fair. Now if someone pulls a sean may (sorry old wound from the NCAA Finals 2005 where he shoulder blocked luther...), they get called for it on both sides

ITS CALL REALISM. this has to be the most realistic feature in nba live . Rigged refereeing .aka miami VS dallas

Arnt you the same guy that moaned about shooting too many threes with Finley, even though it was you pressing the shoot button?

I'd like to see more ref animations in live 08.

Sun Oct 22, 2006 12:26 am

good thinking. because we all know about the only thing live needs now is more referee animations.

Sun Oct 22, 2006 12:34 am

If the game was too fair, it would get boring, refs missing calls isn't abnormal, it happens all the time!

Get over it. Dallas choked big time in the finals but it had nothing to do with the officiating. If they´d stopped moaning about "bad" calls and focused on playing basketball they would probably have ended up with the rings instead of Miami. God I hate it when people start this conspiracy crap!

I don't think the virtual officiating is any worse than last year or indeed any other NBA Live game. Sometimes it seems like the CPU is getting all the calls but I've often been bailed out on foul calls too.

One call that does seem a little better in 07 is charging vs blocking fouls. In NBA Live 06 it was much easier to be cheesy about drawing charges in the lane, even in the no charge circle. 07 in comparison seems to get more calls right under and around the basket or punishes flopping by not calling anything which leaves your opponent wide open, just as in real life. It's not perfect but I feel there's an improvement in that area which has made cheap defense much more of a gamble.

check the amount of free throw wade had in the finals and the phantom fouls they called on dallas, then come back and talk to me

Mon Oct 23, 2006 3:23 am

There's nothing to check, nothing to talk about. Miami won the championship. Nobody can take that away from them. Period.

Mon Oct 23, 2006 5:40 am

point guard-i watched each game...just because your team lost doesnt make on account of the refereeing...i was pulling for dallas (b/c my roommate is a wade fan cuz his sis went to marquette) but they lost...plain and simple. Wade had so many FTA's because dallas was trying to do anything at all to stop him. Unfortunately that meant foul. This is the wrong board to discuss this though. NBA forum is towards the bottom, if you'd like to discuss it there, lets go.

Mon Oct 23, 2006 4:23 pm

I hope in Live You could be able to contest a ref call and then the ref threw you a technical for too much reasoning then you will be thrown out in the game ( like sheed before )

hehehhe

Back on topic
officiating is pretty much ok with me though there are just some breaks but pretty good

Mon Oct 23, 2006 5:42 pm

Sounds like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles would make better refs in live 07.

lol... but it's realistic, i mean the bad treatment to one of the teams in the court... it just happens in real life, and that's what we call realism: similar to life...

Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:12 pm

Its a damn video game, its not realistic. Its just ea fucked up programming.

Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:35 am

 i have yet to see this "biased play calling" not on both sides once i jacked up the sliders...they either call nothing or everything in this game

haha. . same shti happened to me in the game

The PG domination makes this problem worse. TJ Ford dropped 40 on me last night and got to the line 20 times. All he had to do was run into the paint, do his animation, and my defender would fall back and get whistled.

By the way, a cheap thing to do is to attempt a layup animation at the 3 point line when the defender is up in your grill. Half the time, he'll get called for a foul and you'll get 3 free throws. Gay.
