pro hop

Postby furbysaur on Sat Oct 07, 2006 11:04 am

just bought the game for pc. just one question, how do you do the pro hop/drop step in nba live 07? i don't see it in the button configuration? did EA remove it permanently.

Btw, I just saw a few bugs/issues that is maybe written in the bugs forum. Anyway, i'll just say it again..

There is no fatigue slider (i only want to play a 6minute game so i often adjust my fatigue slider), there's pro hop and drop step effectiveness slider without the pro hop button in the config, the controls are still not keyboard friendly (still have to use PPJoy if you're a keyboard fanatic), the game view sucks! I'm used to play with baseline high and the angles are changing (might get used to it though, but still...)...

I'll just play again and post further comments soon. I hope I didn't make a bad decision in buying this game.

You can do pro hop with right analog, but it hardly ever works for me.
Play the game, win the fight!

Pro is implemented HORRIBLY this year. You have to hold the right stick up to do it, but the delay is so bad you end up completely under the basket by the time the animation catches up. And you can't pro-hop in any direction but forward. Infuriating, because i had the Allen Houston stepback to perfected to a science. Its my favorite move in real life too.

thanks guys. that's one bad move by EA. I also do the step back thing coz it looks cool even if it's inefficient for me. hehe.

I really don't get it, why do they have to put different buttons for dunk and layup. tricky stuff.. i also have to adjust foul/reach in sliders because my player almost always fouls when the CPU does a layup.

I use san antonio.. and why doesn't tony parker get tired!!? what a bug. i can use him for 48 minutes unless he's fouled out.

For the positive side, i think the new moves are fine. Like for example, PG against PG, you often stick with each other... hey.. come to think of it.. that's not good!!! lolz! whenever I'm defending, I often get stuck in picks. well maybe it's more realistic. May as well get the hang of it for now.

I've seen in the bug thread that the logo for direct passing on center and small forwards have been mixed up. My answer for that bug is yes and no. Yes because now, direct passing on the small forward uses the dunk/rebound key while direct passing on the center uses the pass key. No, because people claim that the logo above the center says dunk; but the fact is, it says pass. So it is really not a bug. They just interchanged it. (by the way I'm using PPJoy)

heh. If they outlaw the pro-hop, the guards in the league right now would pick up 15 travels a game. Same applies to the oft-ignoring acarrying. I HATE watching gaurds palm the ball in their hand while dribbling. The skill required to play the game is being overridden by our infatuation with how athletic they are. If the showtime lakers of the 80's got to play with today's rules, they'd prolly run the table during the regular season.

The pro-hop and power dribble have become essentially useless in Live 07. It has become nearly impossible to implement these maneuvers in-game effectively. I personally prefer having a button solely dedicated to the pro-hop/power dribble...I'm not the biggest proponent of having a separate button for lay-ups and for dunks.

I've done the stepback. just move the directional button away from the basket and press spinmove (or is it right analog stick - up for joystick) for 20 secs. just kidding. maybe about 2-3 secs. :P very ineffective..

I think a decent way to get around this, patch related, would be to offer diffent button layout profiles like NCAA football had in 06. They changed the controls a bit, but they still offered players the option to revert to last years control setup if that was what they were more comfortable with. Simple, but absolutely genius, and it showed the kind of attention to detail that makes NCAA the true flagship series of EA Sports ATM.

I wonder if we would be able to do that ourselves, regardless of what is addressed in the patch. I would love to get the prohop button back. It would give me a valid reason to not have FSS trigger mapped to my controller at all, lol.

It took me 2 months to adjust from 05 to 06 with the all new controls. The same will happen this year.
