As some of you know, I am new to this forum. I am eager to introduce some ideas I have for a workaround for 2 of the primary bugs found in the game. I'm looking for feedback prior to applying this test for myself.
#1 The point guard dominance issue:
If I'm playing an exhibition game (Pistons vs Heat), I'll play as the Pistons and the CPU will play as Miami.
Miami's point guard is Jason Williams. If prior to the game, I edit J. Williams ratings as follows:
Offensive Awareness: 10
Passing: 95
Clutch: 10
Will this cause the CPU playing as Miami to pass the ball more and allow other players to attempt more field goals? .. especially if I bump S. Oneals and D. Wades Offensive Awareness ratings up +10?
#2 CPU team doesn't substitute
Is it possible for me to substitue the CPU's team (Miami) starting 5 during the game, especially when I make my own substitutions for the Pistons?

I refuse to do anything of those things manually. For anyone who hasn't bought the game yet: don't buy it until a patch is released. I swear I haven't been pissed this much in ages. EA Sports knows no shame.

EA Sports knows no shame.
Welcome to the year of 2003.

The PG domination issue is the big one that I want to know more about. I'd be concerned about changing the passing ratings to 95... that would just make him a really, really good passer. Maybe rating tweaks could help, but I'd really like to know how PGs functions out of the box.
I would also like to know whether "Quit Game" in the second quarter would send the user to the main menu or back to the desktop is only an issue for EA Downloader users or for all users.
As for the CPU team not substituting, even if the human user has to make their subs, that's tedious and unnecessary work for us to do, not to mention the lack of freedom for the CPU to make its own substitution choices.

I only submitted the workaround as a means of testing to see if it
helps with the issue UNTIL a patch by EA or roster/ratings
updates come out by this sites patch contributors.
I agree, passing=95 is very high for J. Williams; however, I only selected
95 for testing purposes only.

Well as i posted in another thread, it might be possible to reduce the PG dominance a bit via dbf editing. Which means changing the default plays for each CPU team to some which involve the 1 and the 2 spot. I have no clue if it is really helpful but I'll give it a try and post it here.

if you want a real workaround for PG dominance, control the CPU team, go into playbooks, choose plays that don't get the PG to shoot and then change the controller to your team. if you want the specifically designed plays for each team from last year look at last year's general discussions forum and search for a thread made by playmaker regarding playboooks.

if removing all of the realism that they spent hours trying to create is necessary just to sub players or make sure the PGs don't do everything, that's just kind of ridiculous

I think you need to just wait until EA releases a patch for it. I would say withing a week they should figure it out and address the problem. For now, just play on EASO or something where you don't need the subs, otherwise don't complain about something that we can't really do much about.

I played the Bulls vs Miami. Williams, Miami PG scored, 35 points in the first half of a 10 minute quarter game. I tried double teaming him, triple teaming him, nothing worked. When I put lots of pressure on him he'd just run into the lane, push the triple team with him, and force up a shot over the C and PF, about 80% of the time it went in. When I played off a bit to stop the drive, he shot, 80% from the three point line and missed only one two pointer.

^ Ouch. Ok, so it does seem like there is a PG problem, for sure.

I tried the workarounds I listed before.
They do NOT work.

even if this works, just the same as doing the subs for the CPU it is way to tedious of a task. I take it we still have to set our own playbook each time we play?
Why has EA made the game so much less user friendly over the years? Before we could substitute for the CPU w/o switching controllers....no more.
Before all our settings would be saved....no more.
There's been a lot of progress in the game, but the frustrating thing is that a lot of fundamentals have been left out and made the game unplayable despite good gameplay.

all it takes is just 2minutes before the actual game starts for u to set up the playbooks which i do...u want teams to play like their realselves?then u gotta...the gameplay is good like u said, but the sub thing is gonna be annoying having to sub manually for urself(which i always do) but for the CPU its gonna be too much of a task controlling their minutes...EA gotta somehow find those 2 missing sliders fuck

well once you defined the plays via dbf you have no need to set them before every game.
