Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

I know there is this "on the fly" feature to change up your superstar's freestyle superstar types anytime during the game. When you decide to pass, you don't get to decide before hand. You only get to decide to pass when you pass. So, if I'm on high flyer superstar mode and caught up on the situation of a kick out, how am I going to be able to rotate and find the player maker superstar type in time? It's a split second decision. Basketball is unpredictable. Or if I want to switch to shooters type while on high flyer, do I really have to time to rotate to find the shooter type mode while I'm still open?

i dont think it will work well in times of need. Its more for just changing your FSS move, kind of like calling a play. You do it before you start doing a play, and shooting or whatever. But i know what you mean.

I think they should ditch the whole FFS thing.
Sun Sep 24, 2006 7:24 am
Well once you get to know the players, it would become easier to do because you'll know that certain ffs types come after another ffs on a guy. You probably won't be able to do it super fast, but enough so that you can be efficient with it imo.

I dont think you can pick which one you want either. You have to click through the lists if they have more then 2. So if you wanted to go from playmaker to dunker you might have to click it a couple times. I dont think it will work if you are making a move to the basket. You probably have to select it while standing in one spot.

I think it will becasue switching your FSS ablities dont have nothing to do with moving, now if your trying to do dribbling moves it will becasuse if your holding down the FSS modifier the right analog change to your FSS moves. Also they still have your regular pass button.

Here! Here!!
I wholeheartedly agree with you. While it sounds like a nice idea at times the moves themselves are way too streetballish and arent moves which are executed often in an actual game. I say ditch it and assign just one or two specific moves (which arent meant for ASW) to select players that will be performed in occasions you cant predict. The player specific jumpshots and stuff are really the only things that keep me interested.

i never used the FSS moves in 06 really. Only when i made an effort to use them. They never became second nature to me.

Yea, after the first day or two of gameplay I only used it to remind myself it was there at times. I always tried to figure out what people liked about it so much but it never got me hooked. I didnt use it enough to even figure out on my own that its at times impossile to guard (which either way would have led me to not using it).

I like the FSS,
but I also think EA should have an option to turn it off for everyplayer in the game with a click of a button and still have the game behave like the older versions.

I used FSS only for the moves that made sense, such as Duncan or Garnett doing a turnaround hook shot, or the Shooter follow-through on a fadeaway which added a little bit of attitude to the game. Not too many of the moves were streetballish, only the behind the back layups and self-toss alley oops come to mind. It's just that the Scorer and High Flyer moves usually worked too well from short distances only. Shooter and Playmaker didn't really give you any kind of advantage other than cool animations.
To answer the question, suppose Chris Wilcox kicked the ball out to Ray Allen, for example. If I knew that Allen was set to Outside Scorer before passing it to him, I would just hold the superstar trigger while the ball was in the air, then hit R3 when it got to him to change to Shooter, then flick the Right Analog stick to take the shot. I'm just wondering if you have to let go of the stick at the top of your jumper to shoot accurately (I use User Shot Control), which would be a little strange. Perhaps it will be automatic or we'll have new shooter animations which don't include the normal jumper animation like the set shot last year.

I like the idea of the FSS (especially if they have at least three different levels of it), but its integration is just too sloppy and makes game way too arcadish. Contrary to their opinion, not everyone wants to see 360/FT line dunks on every single fastbreak.

So it wont be like if u wanna make a nice pass u press FSS button +Pass button
and when u wanna dunk u press FSS+Dunk??
maybe a stupid question i dont know
Sun Sep 24, 2006 5:12 pm
I would like to see FSS scrapped, but with the addition of X-Factor it looks like its here to stay. If 07 if good and the FSS is actually something that you can use to make the most of matchups, by all means include it any all the upcoming Lives
Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:22 pm
perhaps an option to turn it off would satisfy everyone. I actually like FSS. Playing with Detroit, it's not overpowering.
Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:38 pm
Just because players have FSS moves doesnt mean they will work 100% of the time, they wont even work 50% of the time if you dont use them right. I liked how they added X factors, for those players who are decent, but can still light it up on occasion. Star FSS players are another great thing, brings more realism to the game. Now Korver wont be a shooter like Dirk. So EA is doing a good job of making their game a little more realistic.

For players with multiple FSS movsets you can cycle through them during gameplay so that you can utilise all of their moves in the one game if you so choose.
It works fine, though players with a lot of movesets obviously take a little longer to cycle through. It's feasible though and certainly effective, in my opinion it's an improvement over being stuck with one set of moves (and thus one aspect of a multitalented player's game).

i only used FSS about three times, all for a kobe bryant self-alleyoop on a one-on-none fast break.
then again, i only played nba live 06 about three times.

i think they should ditch powerplayers(which they did) and highflyers that way it should be ok
Mon Sep 25, 2006 12:58 am
I think FSS is good idea but it shouldn't be as powerfull as it is. It's giving too much for player - he is just unstopable when U are using FSS
Mon Sep 25, 2006 1:50 am
I think they should ditch the FSS too, or at least ditch the shooters FSS thing, because it doesn't take Reggie Miller to be able to fake a pass and shoot.
But anyways back to topic. It system itself worked out decent last year, and they've just added to it. Maybe you won't be able to change Tmac from shooter to highflyer while running the fast break, but you can adjust and prepare for it next play. If you're getting alot of fastbreak points, you might want to make him a highflyer. If it's half court offense, change him to shooter or playmaker, or scorer etc. Anyways it's definately an improvement, it may not work that well at first but I think it will help slow down the game abit. Less frantic and more controlled.

Then how come in the 07 ad it shows Pau Gasol as a power player?

I believe it shows him as an Inside Scorer...

Pretty much, unless you're playing using Player Lock or a two player co-op game, or have particularly nimble fingers and quick reflexes. With practice I think most players will be able to do it fairly swiftly and smoothly when need be but in some situations it just won't be feasible to change in the middle of a fast break.
