Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

In the 4 current gen clips, and tutorial clips, the benches still look static. Just 4-5 players sitting looking straight ahead and one dude lying down. I thought I may have seen some twitching but it could have been the low quality. What the heck happened since 2003? Those benches kicked ass! Players got up and celebrated on the 3 ball and dunks and hung their heads in shame on turnovers and missed shots. I skipped 2004, but I know 2005 and 06 were as bad as live 95 was in terms of bench animations. Why would EA take such a step back? Is it that much work to script the players on the bench to get up like the crowd? Maybe throw some towels on the floor after a big shot? I know Andrew said he saw celebrations from the bench, but all the videos I've seen look exactly like 05/06. Anyone else miss this simple yet effective feature for realism that Live used to have?

agreed..i havent seen any bench animations in the previews and trailers...
in 2004-2006, the game trailers were nothing like the actual game..to me the only "true" preview was 2003..when it was the LA vs. Minnesota video..

I just can't believe that Live has taken a step back in presentation like that these last few games. It's not like people protested to having an animated bench.

i think there may only be bench animations in the next gen version, but im not really sure

They chose to focus on gameplay this year, as has been stated by producers countless times.

So because they chose to focus on gameplay means they leave out a feature they had in 3 years ago that worked just fine?

*cough* still no player emotion or real time shadows either *cough*
i mean really, we had those features in the PS1 version of NBA Live 2000....

Where did I say they should have left it out? All I was saying is that nobody should've expected it, as they haven't included it back into the game since they took it out, so why would we expect it when we've been told emphasis was placed elsewhere?

I'm glad they didn't waste their time with bench animations. I wouldn't want frivolous crap like that wasting my precious bandwidth.

Umm, what does bench animation have to do with your internet speed?

The reason we dont get bench animations and sutch is because the crappy ps2 and xbox cant handle it so therefor we (pc users) are stuck with no bench animations and other things. I mean they already cancelled the game for GC because it was way to slow even when 2005 came out.

there are bench animations in the game anyway... if you watch the tutorial videos carefully, wen jason williams passes to wade and then wade dunks the ball.. i think its james posey on the bench who throws his hands on his head... but its only a split second you get to see
Sat Sep 23, 2006 2:20 am
i checked all the videos and paid close attention to every image with the bench in it.
First off i dont believe Williams passes to Wade, its a different player.
Second I did see 1 instance of a bench player moving, in the X-Factor video 7 seconds in, a player's legs move on the bench
If they were going to have bench animations again they would have promoted it more.
Im still confused tho because in interviews Brian Ullrich confirmed bench animations
Plus we have created lots of new animations for things like taking blocks and charges, passing lane interceptions, multi-player and bench player celebrations, and player's battling for post position.
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/719/719797p1.htmlbut then in the blogs its confirmed again, but only for nextgen
The other cool next gen feature we’ve added is players can now get ‘In the Zone' when momentum climbs high enough.....
.......T-Mac on a fastbreak while In the Zone will be able to pull off spectacular 360 degree windmill dunk and have the crowd go crazy and the bench jump to its feet
http://blogs.ign.com/NBALive_07/
doesnt matter really, we'll find out in 5 days

Well, as far as I remember the current-gen producer did mention about bench animation in one of many interviews...
