probs with player changing team

hi all,
ive got a problem in my dynasty:

I want to have a self-created player in my team again but I can't afford him.
So I tried to add him to my team through editing the players.dbf file.

I thought i changed everything important ashe is now in my roster and i pay him
But i cannot choose him to play in my rotation or in the starting five before a game.

What did I forget or do wrong?
