At the end they asked what are you working on right now today. They said "Right now we are tuning our gameplay engine. This is a constant challenge where you keep tuning and tuning the engine and gameplay right up to when you ship the game." That really doesnt sound good. Fit all the new graphics, and extra options in, and we can work on the gameplay last. But thats EA for you.

Those pics are crazy. I pray that armbands actually have depth this year instead of just being textures...

Thats what they should be doing if the game is done is you ask me. They have time to test it and if they see something wrong then they can fix it.

well each and every year the gameplay is awful. I hope they are just making slight adjustments. The way he said it made it seem like they are working on the gameplay and usually dont finish before the deadline. Which means we always get half assed gameplay like we usually get. Im really hoping they prove me wrong, but they have a long history of working on graphics and modes and lacking in gameplay.

I don't see nothing wrong with the Gameplay in Live. . .There's always flaws, I guess EA are trying to fix the problems before the game gets released!!

And the Pictures are Sick!! It's about time we see some 5 on 5 photos and that ISH looks REAAAAL if you aks me!!

Im sorry, but i expect a game where the CPU players dont shoot behind the backboard, not sub their starters in after halftime, shoot a 2 pointer when they need a 3 at the end of games, and other things you would NEVER see in the NBA. Dont get me wrong, im not a NBA Live hater, i just dont like paying 40 bucks for a game with very flawed gameplay.

Gameplay > Graphics

They did say they have a whole new AI for this game, just have some faith. Just expect that for current gen, next gen is something different, thats what it seems like anyway

Graphics look pretty, but the background blur is waaay overdone on the Spurs-Kings shot. The net still looks like crap in those dunking shots too, but everything else is nice.

Can't wait until the PC gets some next-gen action. Especially considering it's very capable.

Dont worry, i am keeping an open mind and hoping things go really well this year. Like i said i am not a nba live hater, i am just tired of what has happened in the past. But hopefully Live 07 will put all them to shame.

Yeah whats with the nets? Actually it looks bad in the Stromile Swift picture, but in the picture with Vince Carter, they look pretty real.

Also this is the first time in a long time that Live actually have cheerleaders on the sideline. LOL

I stoped reading after this:

1UP: In general, looking back on last year's versions of Live, what were you happy with, and what were you disappointed by?

Tim Tschirner: There were several things I was really happy about with NBA Live on Xbox 360

Are you kidding me? He was happy the gameplay ("I also felt like we delivered a game that felt next-gen, with innovations like the Temple of Basketball that allows you to start playing immediately while the game is loading. The whole concept of being in the game all the time is really next-gen.")? Wow. Who needs to have a game with post 2001 gameplay when you "fantastic" graphics and a practice court while it loads? Not to mention no one on one mode. No muiltple season season mode (not even franchise mode. even live 99 had that on the psx). No All star weekend. No FSS. And he tries to point to a few positives? Wake up, seriously.

Live 360 was the worst game I have ever played. But what was even better was this corker: " Last year really laid the foundation for us to create an innovative next-gen experience for the franchise in this year and in the future."

Tetris looks "innovative" and "next gen" compared to last years 360 game. No wonder they are marketing footplanting and streaming espn shows as their main selling points. They could even say on the box "now with a multilanguage instruction manual" and people will get excited about it. Fuck me dead.

If only the nba live tmac could read this, I'm sure he'll roll his eyes at me. Perceptial awareness!

Read this again because I did'nt see nothing about him saying he was happy about 06 gameplay.

Tim Tschirner: There were several things I was really happy about with NBA Live on Xbox 360. First, I thought we delivered a game that was visually stunning. The players looked realistic and the buildings and fans were authentic. The overall graphical treatment gave the franchise a next-gen look. I also felt like we delivered a game that felt next-gen, with innovations like the Temple of Basketball that allows you to start playing immediately while the game is loading. The whole concept of being in the game all the time is really next-gen. One thing I was disappointed about was that we didn't have the time to implement the full feature depth that fans of the franchise have come to expect. It was a strategic decision when we moved to next-gen not to port any code. We wanted to create a next-gen game from scratch in order to deliver a truly next-gen experience. While this strategy didn't give us the time to implement all of the feature depth, I don't think that we would have been able to achieve a next-gen look and feel without this approach. Last year really laid the foundation for us to create an innovative next-gen experience for the franchise in this year and in the future.

Can you read?

Sat Aug 12, 2006 4:25 pm

Can you read between the lines? Did he list the gameplay as a negative? No he didn't.. so unless he is ashamed to admit the game that he is producing fell way below where it should have in terms of gameplay, he is happy with it.

Sat Aug 12, 2006 5:01 pm

well you can't expect him to say "well last years game was actually 25% finished and we just released it cause we had to. we released an unfinished game with the 'next-gen' tag on it just for the sake of the money".

he represents a company and he would be fired if he were to admit that last year they screwed everyone over, although i certainly agree with your thoughts.

Sat Aug 12, 2006 7:04 pm

They've been releasing 25% completed games for years now.. I might make the jump to the 2k series this year.

Sat Aug 12, 2006 8:11 pm

I had to admit the gameplay did suck.Let's hope they step up to the plate this yr. But 60.00 isnt money you like to throw away for half-done games ok.
