nv4_disp driver stopped working

Postby Panco on Sun Oct 01, 2006 6:41 pm

I played lie normally for about 2 days till I started to get an error which sounds like this ("The nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work an reintall....."). I tried reintalling drivers but it didn't helped. btw it happens with fifa 07 now also.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Before you reinstall the drivers, make sure to completely remove your current driver set. If you have to, follow these steps for driver removal: http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_4.html

Did not help. I do not get that error but i still can't play the game. The screen is full of some strange green, red, black, white dots and lines and it craches for about 10 seconds then recovers and crashes again.

Do other games work fine after the reinstall? If not, it could be a heat issue with your video card. Check if the video card fan is running and make sure it isn't too dusty.

Reinstalling DirectX might do the trick as well if you can rule out the heat issue, but that is a long shot.

So is the video card fan running? Is it dusty?

your videocard is overheating, or its damaged from overheating, make sure your fan is running, give it a clean, if not take of the heatsink, use some contact cleaner and look for blue spots on the GPU, that means its damaged.

its definately your videocard, not the drivers.
