X-Box/next gen version is their building block for the future, so of course they're going to hype it as much as possible. We already had our share of current gen reviews and while there are still some unanswered questions (will current gen version have the new, advanced ratings system,...), I completely understand the EA's policy. And it's not like that the same group that is developing next gen version is also working on current one, so the amount of previews doesn't neccesarily eqauls amount of work put into the final product. The PC/PS2 market is simply to big for them to ignore it or release a shitty product.
