Live 07 should feature Historic Teams

Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Live 07 should feature Historic Teams

Postby Fastbreak100 on Fri Jun 09, 2006 2:31 pm

I think EA should do Live 07 like they do Madden and feature Historic Teams from the past like the Showtime Lakers, the 80's Celtics, the 90's Bulls. The 94-96 Houston Rockets and all the legendary teams. That way, it will save us consumers the task of constantly looking for CAPS.

I heard the reason that the legends are dissappearing is because legal reasons are keeping them off of the game. Well hey, if you play with Madden's historical teams they have NO names or any pictures of previous stars. If EA just had they players on the historical teams playing like the actual stars and looking like the actual stars, that would be good enough.

I dunno, people just replace the legends with other teams so I think its a waste. They should put current teams maybe include even some NBDL teams...

Classic teams would be awsome...and they wanted to put it in a few years ago..but too many players had licensing issues.

I dunno about you guys, but I would never play using an NBDL team. Classic teams however are fun to use.

I'm not sure it would work out as well as Madden since EA still wouldn't have the image rights - for example, they couldn't just use a Michael Jordan cyberface and give him a fake name - so they wouldn't be able to even have lookalikes. That's not really an issue with Madden since the players wear helmets but it would be quite obvious in NBA Live.

Don't get me wrong, classic teams would be great but ultimately I don't think it would be any better since the licensing roadblocks would still greatly water down such a feature.

ya Andrew has a good point there

personally I would love to see that feature, and maybe be able to start a Dynasty mode in a certain era with all the correct draft players available and also include rule changes as you go on...

Historical teams is a big waste of time. Just focus on the current players.

Well I think having historic players would be cool and fun to play with. But Ea needs to fix some issues first like you know gameplay etc. and then make a historical roster.Lets face it we all wont a basketball simulation first and then all the little things.

Besides, EA tends to lowball the legends they do have. I prefer to make these players myself, and have them be the dominate bastards they actualy were.

After reading some of the post are u guys saying EA is getting rid of the legends, or you just refering to how say karl malone and reggie miller were 90's legends and now they are not due to legal issues? I grew up watchin bird and magic without the legends EA loses at least one customer, me!

As far as we're aware most of the Legends are staying but players from the 90s are disappearing the ones who aren't still active are no longer under contract and thus unable to appear. I expect Magic and Bird will continue to be featured and most if not all of the Legends on the 80s team and earlier but it looks as though the 90s roster will continue to be depleted as players retire.

The EA team that works on NBA Live is too "lazy" to make a fake roster or customize the names (like naming Michael Jordan into Mikel Jorden or something) or even use random names for the legends. They won't even include a create a team feature to facilitate making custom teams yourself. Don't get your hopes up. It won't happen. EVER.
Bored.

In all fairness, if EA did that they'd probably be a bunch of people who criticised them for doing so because the Legends don't have their real names and call them lazy or cheap because they didn't include the real players...or say they spent all their team on the fake Legends and didn't work on other areas of the game. When it comes to a situation like this, EA can't really win because the best solution is a compromise that not all fans are willing to accept.

That of course is assuming there's no restriction placed on them by the NBA forbidding them to even do that. Remember, for years the NBA refused to allow real player contracts to be used in the game while the NHL and NFL did not.
