Can anyone please tell me a way that I could convert a roster from NBA Live 08 to 06?

Essentially, it's a matter of taking the databases from the NBA Live 08 roster, changing any values that are different in NBA Live 06, and adding any missing data columns that NBA Live 06 has but NBA Live 08 doesn't. You can also remove redundant data columns (such as the Go To Move column), but you don't have to; NBA Live 06 will just ignore them, since they aren't tied to any in-game function.

Ok thanks Andrew so the only missing columns i see are GRADCLASS and ROOKIERNK2 so do i just add them to the 08 roster, assign zeros to everybody and I'm done?

Absolutely. You can use Excel to add the new columns, you just need to make sure that you save in the proper DBF (DBASE IV) format, otherwise the database will be corrupted and result in codebase errors.

In terms of appearance.dbf, you'll also need to fix the shoes, as the IDs are different. Dunk packages are another thing you'll need to look out for, as there are a few differences and DUNKPACK is also closely tied to certain Freestyle Superstars movesets in NBA Live 06.

The only files that you need to copy across are players.dbf, appearance.dbf, teams.dbf, and coaches.dbf. You could copy teamgear.dbf, but there might be some missing jerseys. You shouldn't have to do anything with teams.dbf or coaches.dbf, perhaps aside from an errant value here and there. You'll probably also need to make some manual changes to location.dbf.

Anything after 2003 should be fine. Alternatively, you should be able to use the spreadsheet software in OpenOffice.

Good to hear! It's a bit fiddly, but fairly straightforward once you know how. :)

Glad to hear it! I'll see if I can organise it into a more detailed guide when I get a moment.
