Photoshop confusing me

I have been working on a NBA Live 06 project for months now, and everything has been going fine so far...but now I'm having a problem with Photoshop. I was trying to cut a jersey so I can make a preview, using my usual method (which I got from an 07 jersey tutorial). Everything went fine until I got to this part:



What happened here is that normally, for every jersey I create, the furthest left, top, and right parts would be in line with the outer margins, but as seen in this picture, whenever I contract the selection, the aforementioned parts are moving in when I contract the selection (which they never used to do). I haven't changed any settings (as far as I know), and I use the same method that I've always used. I merge the collar and sleeve layers, then select them, then merge the visible layers and delete the unnecessary parts. When I get to the selection part, I get what I mentioned (the selection moving in).

I don't know, it shouldn't do that. Are you sure the layer you are selecting goes all the way to the border of the canvas?

Yeah, when I ctrl-click it, it goes all the way to the border. But when I contract it, the entire selection contracts (it used to be that the borders stayed put). I have tried messing with the settings (and when they didn't work, I set them back to where they were). And if I expand the selection, it goes outside the border.

Maybe "Snap to" is turned off.

I just tried that, and no dice. I've found a minor workaround for the time being (Add to selection), but now I have an unrelated problem. I have made a bunch of jersey previews, and my latest one is glitched somehow. I used the same method as I always have, and the preview isn't showing up. Furthermore, when I select that preview, then change the opposing team's jersey, its preview also disappears, unless the other team is the same as the glitched team, in which case the game crashes.
