Mon Jan 05, 2009 5:14 pm

Hey i jsut started my Rockets dynast and im almsot through my first season and with Mcgrady im averaging 42.5 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, 6.9 steals per game and 2.3 assists per game but im not even in the top 5 for the MVP candidates.

Jermaine O'neal Leads with 28.5 PPG , 10 RPG and 1.3 BPG

Kobe is second with 32.5 PPG, 6 .5 APG , 2.3 SPG and 3.4 RPG

then ther r three randoms. i cant believe im not in the top 5 for the MVP! can some1 explain why im not in the top 5?

Pretty much every NBA Live has had some quirks when it comes to award winners, All-Star selections and the MVP candidates. It's possible the lower assist numbers are keeping McGrady out of the top five (by the game's logic) though you would think that the points and rebounds would more than make up for it. What kind of win/loss record do you have?

im currently 10 and 1. i was playing this morning and im now in the top 3 for the candidates and the assists did help. im currently averaging 4 assists a game. but im averaging 9 steals pg now along with 45.5 ppg. so i think ill just have to play harder tho lol but any more ideas would be helpful :D

It definitely couldn't have been your record then. I guess it was the assists though it's a bit silly to say the least, considering the other numbers.

True, though they don't always fix things as the years go by, sometimes they make them worse. NBA Live 08 on PC and NBA Live 09 on PS2 are fine examples of that, though the Xbox 360 version of 09 did take many steps forward.

Amazing how even the same game differs from console to console...

(BTW, Andrew, you rock for helping everyone here.. and I mean everyone here.. all the time.)

True, though the current generation of consoles are much more powerful than their predecessors and have become the focus of development, which has bad news for the PC version the last few years as it's been ported from the PS2 and thus suffered from the same restrictions even though a high end PC is definitely capable of running a (well made) port from the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 platforms, hence the lack of innovation.

I appreciate the kind words too, I try to help however I can whenever I can. I take my cues from the guys who originally founded the site, who were always very helpful to me when I was getting started in the community and how they made sure they were visible so visitors always knew who was responsible for the site and who they should get in touch with. :)
