Beta Roster v0.3

Postby Andrew on Wed Nov 26, 2008 7:50 pm

Here it is, a new beta roster for the Project. I'm hoping it'll be the last beta required before we do some stable releases.

Download

What I'm looking for in this version:

These issues shouldn't occur, but please let me know if they do.
  1. Freestyle Superstars moves not working upon loading the patch.
  2. Freestyle Superstars moves not working after changing FSS movesets
  3. Random lockups in menus or when editing players or changing FSS movesets
  4. Players dunking when they shouldn't/performing a range of dunks they shouldn't

Plus any other crashes or issues you come across, excluding of course missing art because once again the beta does not include any art. It does include Pdub's updated aiact.viv file however. Assuming this beta doesn't have any problems (or only small things that can be easily fixed up), we should be one step closer to a proper release. I'll try to post a comprehensive list of required art updates ASAP.

remove the roster folder. In the install file, only adds the NLSC roster folder to the directory you want.

You could just uninstall, install the game again; Assuming you have the real copy of course

:( :( that would be my last option...i have different patches for my game..and so many art files i put manually

that's so much work to do...if i could uninstall the roster patch without touching the main game, that would be nice..

anyway, a little off topic ,does windows vista 64 has system restore feature like xp does?

Glad you got it working. If you come across any of the mentioned issues or any freezes/lockups/crashes at all, let me know. If someone else posts an issue, it would also be appreciated if anyone else testing the beta could confirm that they're having the same problem (I'll try to replicate the error as well, of course) or not.

I've found a couple of players whose FSS abilities aren't working properly, specifically Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins. Other High Flyer Superstars are working properly though, leading me to believe it's because I changed their DUNKPACKs after I let the game re-assign their FSS abilities. If so, it's easy enough to correct and avoid in the stable release. I think some of the lockups I was experiencing were due to some issues I were having with my PC which I've hopefully fixed up now, but please let me know if you come across any problems.

It's just a beta release meaning it is still incomplete so there will definitely be another one.

Until we get to v1.0, we're not into the stable releases so this is not the final release. I've explained what's going on here in my first post, this is another beta to make sure the conversion is working properly as I'm trying to iron out issues with FSS movesets not working properly (pretty sure I've got that one nailed down though) and that there aren't any other crashes. It also gives everyone an updated roster for 06 to play with in the meantime if they want to have a few games with the art that's been made available already.

Thanks Andrew for this new version of your roster. I'm still having problems with some players FSS not working or working just partly.

My list of players with FSS problems:

Hawks: Johnson, Smith
Mavericks: Green, Terry
Nuggets: Smith
Warriors: Magette, Crawford
Clippers: Davis
Bucks: Redd

Btw: are you going to make an uninjured version of your final roster and are you going to revisit all teams players with FSS moves?

I'll check out those players but I've made some adjustments since the beta which should have corrected that. I changed some dunk packages independently of the FSS movesets which seems to be causing the problems but I did another reset and recalculation so we should be fine. I'll double check those players to be sure though.

There will be an injured version in the proper release but it seemed unnecessary work for the beta release which is why I've just been doing the normal version so far.

Will there be a SGSM pack released with the final roster? Cuz it is kinda hard to concetrate on the goods of the game when pink heads are flying everywhere...... Thx for the V3 anyways! Great Job

Yes, the full NBA Live PC package will include all necessary art. I've chosen not include art in any of the betas as I want them to be quick downloads for testing purposes. We know why the pink faces show up and how to fix them in the proper release, the betas have been released to fix up other issues and make sure everything will work properly once it's all put together.

A small thing Andrew, don't you think the player birth dates should be put to 3 years earlier than they really are? Because now when you start a dynasty you have some rookies at 16 or 17 years old, and I think it would be better to have the real ages rather than the real birth dates. I think this was discussed before though, but I thought I'd still notice it.

For sure and I still think it's a good idea, it's just not one of the things I've been focusing on with the betas.

I am not sure if this is a problem with my game, or with the roster. I tested it out with Allen Iverson in Practice mode, and he was doing Highflyer dunks. It's almost like he can do moves that don't belong to his FSS type. :? :?

Yes, that issue is with the roster but it should now be resolved as I've since pinpointed the cause for the FSS problems in the betas.

Roster is fine, art is nowhere near completion. As I've said before, if I don't post any progress reports then there is really nothing to report. I believe I've got all the issues that were present in the betas so it's just a matter of keeping the rosters up to date (same as the 07 and 08 updates) which is easy enough, but the art as I said is nowhere near completion. I've posted a beta art pack in the "Compiling art" thread for people to use in the meantime and for any patchmakers to download and work on. There's not much else I can do for the moment as I'm not knowledgable in the area of modifying headshapes.

I got the file and somehow there are still players with the high fly FSS that do not work. I also have players that have no face and no shoes at all which are substituted by pink heads and pink shoes.

Yes, Beta v0.3 still had a couple of issues with FSS which should now be resolved. The reason you're getting pink heads is because the beta does not include any art; since they are quick releases for testing purposes, I didn't feel it was necessary to include art and make it a bigger download than it needed to be. v0.3 shouldn't have any problems with shoes though as all players should only have shoes that are in the game by default assigned. I can't guarantee compatability with any 06 shoe patches though.

Andrew, i agree with the ReMix, i think that player birth dates should be put to 3 years earlier than they really are, so the game would be more realistic.
Some player portraits looks very old and also some coaches have pink faces, everything else is great, the art update works really fine, i have played it for few hours and didn't find anything wrong.
Now, if you need help with rosters, transactions, ratings or starting lineups, i can help.
