PG dominance

Postby stratjim on Thu Oct 30, 2008 8:49 pm

just started getting into playing live 06 after years of playing live 2000 and i was wondering if there was any way to slow down the opposing point guard. i defend him very tough, but he won't give up the ball and constantly drives to the hole...successfully. i play the celts and ray felton hit me for 27 points! that's ridiculous
are there any switches or sliders?

thanks

Unfortunately there's no slider for it but lowering the Primacy rating for point guards and possibly even inside scoring ratings are a couple of solutions that have varying degrees of success.

Are you sure you aren't playing NBA Live 07? I thought the PG was pretty stable in 06, stopping to set up plays as long as you are in front. Live 07 is the one where the PG just runs directly towards the rim and puts up shots.

NBA Live 07 is worse but point guards still penerate a bit too easily in NBA Live 06 as well.

That's pretty much been an issue in a lot of Lives, just on varying levels.

True, though there has been domination issues with other positions too.

thanks for the feedback. i've played live 2000 for many years and i guess i just got good enough so the guards didn't dominate so much. i'll just have to practise more...

It's the same in Live 2005. Sometimes PGs are too hard to defend, sometimes their driving is an advantage for me as they drive and drive and get called for an offensive foul. Just stand under the hoop and press the "take charge" button...or just keep standing or move slowly around and the PG will crash into you and get a call or lose the ball.

I think PGs don't drive so much or at least they don't score so much if you decrease the cpu's pro hop slider.

They fixed that in Live 07 for the most part. In 05 and 06, you could anticipate where they would go from the moment they started their drive, because it was a straight line. In 07, they actually change direction and try to go around you. Probably in 08, too.
