Clutch shooting?

Postby iounasas on Fri Sep 19, 2008 10:27 pm

Are there clutch players or something in this game?
Kobe is shooting 45% fg for me but when the game is on the line it feels like 80%. Also hitting big threes.
Also first time someone scored a half court buzzer beater against me was Robert Horry.
Coincidence?

There's clutch rating in Live 07 and 08 (I don't know if it really affects the game though), but in 06 it's not included, so I don't think there are clutch players in 06.

In the code there might be; 4th quarter numbers for both sides (at least as far as I see) are usually bigger than the other quarters.
If I don't reply back in a timely manner, thanks in advance.

There's definitely comeback logic for the CPU that can get pretty brutal in the fourth quarter.

Yes, but it's for the whole teams, not for exact players.

Quite true. If you're lucky though the Primacy ratings will be put to good use and the CPU's comeback will come as the result of Kobe going ballistic rather than say, Luke Walton. ;)

That's right, but this clutch shooting is a result of comeback logic + primacy ratings, not the assignment of a clutch player, for example for Kobe. But the primacy ratings don't always work also. Sometimes the cpu will want to use another player, like this Walton and then he will be the super-hero-clutch-performer.

Agreed, the absence of the clutch rating and the comeback logic's tendency to help the CPU get back in the game by any means necessary means the resulting challenge isn't necessarily true to life.
