The NBA Live PC mod Requests Bin

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Postby ignatus on Fri Aug 01, 2008 1:22 am

I have been doing some experiments with this game and try to see if I can do something with sigshots...I have been able to import three point contest jumpshots in a regular game not loosig other shots (just like I did for the ILT mod) and some of that shots can be assigned to a certain Superstar type (shooters, inside scorers or outside scorers can have different shooting styles). Anyway, I am trying to assign shigshots to playes, and still no luck...

If there were a way to add some new superstar type names so they can be assigned to certain players...I guess the superstar type names (SHOOTER, OUTSIDE SCORER, INSIDE SCORER, PASSER and so on) are encrypted in the .exe file, but if someone can bring light to my thoughs...

There is no way to do that without some advanced programming, and if an advanced programmer were to attempt it, they might as well fix the issues with 08.

However, what you can do is assign different jumpshot animations to different parts of the floor, and maybe do the same with bigman jumpshots since they have a different jumpshot sometimes.

Not in the same way that they're implemented in NBA Live 08 (ie assigned to an indivual player). It's possible to take a signature shot and give it to a specific Freestyle Superstar type such as Shooter, but that means all players with the Shooter FSS abilities would use that jumpshot style.

As far as I'm aware. We just can't do player specific moves.

No, we cannot bring animations from 07/08 to 06. They have encrypted names and do not work in 06.

Lol, sup guys? It's been a while. Been busy with life in general. Work and all. Seeing thi s this project is rather inspiring. Might get me to patch again. Anythng in particular that ou guys need that hasn't been covered yet? I'm sure there are tons of patchers already doing jerseys and faces and stuff so that won't be needed. No promises though.

P.S. Damn, my sig is so outdated.

Good to see you again, Null. :) I can't think of anything specific offhand, jerseys are pretty much covered though. There's still a fair amount of faces to do though.

---This list is based on the most requested modifications in the game in this thread--- (YOUR WELCOME

1. Updated Speech I.D.'s would give me joy.

2. Chris Paul cover would be the best cover considering he is up and coming and awesome and should of got MVP.

3. Why would we need a cover? You mean, when you start the game, or what? Cause were not going to have to buy this right?

4. Different loading screens.

5. The desktop icon saying its NBA Live 09 even though its 06 because it would be nice :D :-o

6. A different intro for each playoff round would be sweet. Seriously, if that's possible.

7. Bring the Street Mod back.

8. Updated All-Star weekend.

9. The crowd animations be better and make it more lively. IDK, I just want the crowds to be better and more realistic (like signs and stuff possibly.)

10. Have a retro team for every team.

11. Have an extra retro team that is all the best Seattle Supersonics of all time. That would at least fill a little part of my heart stolen from the fucking cunt! (Sorry for the originality)

12. National teams (like Team USA/Redeem Team and Spain and Argentina and stuff like that) In which they would play on the court of the Beijing Olympics!! Cause that'd be awesome and I know its probably not on your highest priority list but that'd be sweet.

13. Just some different scoreboard of some type (Like the TNT mod, and ESPN and stuff)

14. I wouldn't mind some sweet fictional jerseys. That'd actually be pretty tight like the Chicago Bulls Alternate jersey by (?someone?)

15. Those one black socks that has the NBA logo on them. That'd be nice if those were created, fairly minor and easy to make I suppose.

16. updated Legend Pool

17. Dream Team of 1992 Barcelona Olympics would bring peace to my life.

18. Just new artwork overall like bryan055's NLSC Art Beta but I think he is the one putting it in the game so I guess no worry there (:

Well can't really think of anything else and I don't think you can. I know this is pretty big list (I guess, I don't know your guys limits so sorry if you can't do some of this stuff) but this is just based on this whole thread on the overall requests on this thread. So basically my list here is all the most requested modifications to the games plus some personal touches  Well hope you can make all this stuff!!

P.S. BTW...replies to my post would be much appreciated so I know what to expect of this NBA Live Project. I'm sure others viewing this thread have at least one of the above and I'm sure they would also want to know what your feedback (main people like JaoSming, Andrew, bryan055's...) is, cause I sure want to know what you think of this list. . :P

Andrew, about the legends i have another request. Make overalls the same for players in the legends pool and decade teams. Personally, i dont see the point of having a player from a century team with different ratings in the legends pool.

NBA 09

Postby Baron on Tue Aug 19, 2008 11:52 pm

I think.....the most important things are ROSTERS, CFs, AI...
Rosters have to be actual...and I think every player might have his own CF and portrait...next is balanced teams and players overall.....for sure actual jerseys with alternative ones. Ai...I think Kris and Nigu will make PERFECT ai for 09...NIGUs ai is almost perfect...next step...new animations...if it is possible....remake animations...make new animation from baseline lay up...some kind of easy and regular lay up....would be nice if every player has his own sigshot....but it is not necessary...is beter to focus on animations AI and ROSTERS...things like Graphic or something like that...I think graphics are good In game...maybe change 08 for 09...thanks

We're not updating NBA Live 08 with this project. We're updating NBA Live 06.

Also, player overall ratings are not as nearly significant as a lot of people believe them to be, so making them "correct" is not a priority. If you take care of the individual ratings, the overalls take care of themselves.

The initial idea was to have one big patch package to download and we might still go that way but posting them as a list of seperate downloads could be the way to go. The rosters I'm working on will require some art though.

Andrew, here goes the name of another player i think you should include in the legends pool: Alvin Robertson

He will never be in the hall of fame because of his prison history and stuff but he holds the record for more steals per game, was the 1st winner of the most improved player award (Defensive Player of the year in the same season) and he is one of 4 players to average a quadruple double in a game.

I think you mean "achieved" a quadruple double, averaging one would be quite a feat. ;) I'll consider him but in the great scheme of things he's not really an NBA legend.

i think it is ok if you say: average in one game (one small and simple average, ha) but yes, achieved, lol.

About what makes a legend, i think it is not all about final averages but remarkable things.

For example, Derrick Coleman has very good averages but he never made something trully remarkable.

Alvin Robertson is one of the best defensive point guards ever (he made the defensive 1st/2nd team from 1985 to 1991 and was one of 2 pgs to win the DPOTY award, the other one is Payton) and is the only player in history to achieve a quadruple double with 10+ steals included.

And this doesnt really matter but but he was the 1st player to score for the raptors, lol.

Not really, not in the sense you're suggesting but I know what you meant. :) I do see your point about Robertson but as far as being a historically significant impact player he doesn't really come to mind. I'd certainly consider him though so long as I've got a cyberface for him; I'd rather not add Legends (or any players for that matter) with a CAP appearance these days and one of the generic faces just wouldn't look right.

I added some notes to my previous comment.

But hey, probably you are most likely right about Robertson not deserving to be there because the spurs had really crappy records with Robertson. He had the bad luck of being in a total rebuilding process. I am surprised he received so many defensive honors with such a losing team.

from spurs.com history section:

The next season was the first of four very lean years for the Spurs. Shortly before the start of the 1985-86 campaign the team made a surprising trade by sending Gervin to Chicago for David Greenwood. Despite the loss of "the Iceman," the team played well through December and stood at 19-13 two months into the season. But on December 26 Moore was hospitalized with desert fever. The rare disease not only kept him out for the year, it also ended his career.

San Antonio bumbled through the rest of the season, losing 10 of 16 games in January, 12 of 13 from early February to early March, and 13 of 16 overall in March. A 35-47 record was the team's worst showing since relocating to San Antonio from Dallas.

Not to be overlooked in the midst of the Spurs' mediocre performance was the excellent season of second-year player Alvin Robertson. He earned a handful of awards, including NBA Defensive Player of the Year and NBA Most Improved Player, and he represented the Spurs at the NBA All-Star Game. Robertson recorded 301 steals to set a new league record, and on February 18 he became only the second player in NBA history to chalk up a quadruple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals.

I will stop talking about Robertson right now because he is not the point of this thread.

Well as I said, I'll consider him but if I do add him I'd rather have a cyberface at my disposal instead of a CAP appearance or one of the generic faces.

What about Tony Deviance. He should be willing to give you a robertson's cyberface.

And jordan from http://www.nbaliveforums.com/viewtopic. ... 17&start=0 should be willing to help.

I can certainly ask. There are a few more pressing issues before I start adding new Legends though but since I'll be able to convert the 08 rosters without too much trouble it certainly makes the project a lot easier.

Andrew wrote:The initial idea was to have one big patch package to download and we might still go that way but posting them as a list of seperate downloads could be the way to go. The rosters I'm working on will require some art though.

1 big rar that extracts into NBA LIVE 06 folder + my documents rar is the best option..
Downloading many patches and reading readmes for all of them is too time consuming..

edit: Separate wouldnt be bad if there was one organized post that collected them in categories..with explanations and screenshots and that all patches are extractable in NBA LIVE 06 folder so we dont have to go through all instructions for every single patch

^That's a good idea. We could replace it with another shot release so it doesn't look so awkward. Anyone else agree?

Well, if we don't replace it, it will have a bad effect. If we just take it out, when you release the shot button too early, the player won't release his shot, he will continue to his normal shot.

I definitely agree that eliminating it would be for the best. I guess it's helpful in a way to know that your timing is way off but it's not aesthetically pleasing.
