HELP!!SALARIES

Before the end of a season i always check the upcoming free agents.I was using the Warriors for a season and it said that Ben Wallace was an upcoming free agent and that his salary was 6.50M.So im guessing that when it comes time to sign free agents i will be signing Ben for 6.50M.Yet when it came time to sign Ben Wallace to my team his salary had risen to around 30M.Why is that?

The $6.5 million is his salary for the current season, which may not reflect what he'd like to sign for upon becoming a free agent. If he's asking for $30 million I'd say it's referring to a multiyear deal, eg $30 million over 3 years.
