Ingame settings: What is shot control and cpu assistance?

Live 2006 doesn't quite respond to tight games like 05' did. Even if i left cpu assistance on(which i don't know exactly what it does), the cpu still doesn't really catch up all that well to my team's score to try and force a close game from happening. I know with cpu assistance on, i do miss some dunks and the cpu make some really tough outrageous shots when they are down by a big margin, but still i don't get as much overtimes and close exciting games like i used to get in 05'. I'm also not sure what shot control does, it is by default set to User. Will setting it to CPU do any good?
