Patching Help For A Noob Like Me

OK, I need someone to tell me whats going wrong here. I downloaded a patch (Jokers) and saved all 3 parts. I then extracted all 3 parts into the saves folder of NBA Live 06. Then I go to NBA Live 06 and click Options then Load/Save. When I click Load/Save it closes down the program and says its an error. I then delete the 3 parts of the patch and go to Load/Save again, its fine. So I don't know what going on, or am I even doing it right? Im stuck.
