sorry but salary cap space again

hi all, im new here and have looked through the other topics relating to salary cap space but could not find or understand the answer!
so could someone please - clearly and conciselly using an example - explain to me what the salary cap space is and how it works! thank you very much!

unless im wrong and some curret me if i am, all it means is amount of differnece between what the salery cap is and what the team(s) are currently paying, telling what they have left to use for another player.

NBA teams have a certain amount of money they can spend on players, called a salary cap. Unlike some leagues whose salary cap rules state that a team cannot exceed the cap under any circumstances, NBA rules permit teams to spend more than the cap in certain situations (such as re-signing their own veteran players).

When people refer to cap room, they're talking about the difference between the salary cap and the total salaries on a team. If a team has a negative figure, they are over the cap by that amount.
