Help For My Next Dynasty

Mon Aug 28, 2006 8:58 am

Hi all... I've come here to seek for answers. I want to know what you all like in a dynasty?

I'm sure that this will not only help me but it will help a lot of other posters. I just got a short survey here:

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

Tahnks for your time boys!

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important? Depends on how long your recap is.
- Do you like long/short recaps? I prefer a more in-depth recap.

- Do you think a story behind it is important? Not really, a lot of dynasties that had game recaps only went a long way.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it? Sometimes, though I usually follow a dynasty, but don't post much.

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty? Unless it's insanely unrealistic on purpose, then most likely (Unless it's like a Jing dynasty [big scores]).

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot? Not much at all.

i only have a few answers.. to lazy to think right now
alot of pictures isnt very important because when you have lots of images takes fairly long time to load.. and when the images are loading its like it scrolls by itself because if you are reading 1 paragraph and an image randomly pops up then the browser moves up the page.
you can have both long and short recaps.. long ones for like finals and short one for draft :p you dont need to write a whole page for everything
you can have a story its up to you
replies is a good indicator but also if you are popular people seem to just come to your thread and say "hey sit started a new dynasty sit is a cool and he is like so popular here on nlsc so i must view his dynasty and etc..."
realism isnt that important, only the things that people notice. if it seems cool then its cool.
and bla
yea i feel weird right now i just played san andreas for a few hours straight.

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

I consider pictures to be a nice touch but hardly necessary. I believe they should only be used when they're showing something significant; former teammates squaring off, a particularly nice move or a key play of the game...things like that. Random pictures just for the sake of having them doesn't add much except a longer wait to load the thread, in my opinion.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?

Depends on the quality of the game. If a game isn't that memorable I don't do much of a recap but if it was exciting I like to tell as much of the story (or at least the most exciting parts) as possible.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

It's a cool idea that can set it apart from other Dynasty threads but I don't think I'd call it important or necessary.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

I'd say views are a better indictator. A lot of people read but don't really have anything to say except "Nice job" so they don't post.

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

I think it does. I think it's easier to follow a Dynasty with rosters that start out true to life and stats that are realistic (though obviously they don't have to be 100% accurate).

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

Not really.

Hope that helps! :)

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

Not lots of them. But one, maybe two pictures per game is interesting, though not too much.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?

I love long recaps. They give me the real NBA feeling.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

Not at all, but it might be very interesting.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

As far as I'm concerned, no. I read many dynasties, but I hardly post because
a. The thread gets harder to follow because of the replies
b. Mostly, the replies say something like 'Great dynasty, keep it up.' anyway

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

For me, it does. If you have an all-star team assembled, there's barely any fun in it. Realistic boxscores are important for me, too. But if someone connects the management of an unrealisticly great team (like the 2004 Lakers) with a great story and goes into detail about all the difficulties of keeping everyone on the team happy, I could go for it. For example, I'd love to see Kobe and AI playing together in Philly. That'd be spicy!

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

Nah...

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

Pictures are really important, but not too much. I added a lot of pictures in my Dallas dynasty, but I think it was too much. Like Andrew said, pictures should show something significant.

- Do you like long/short recaps?

I don't like, when the recap is long and it is about nothing. I would say recap should be interesting to read, not matter what is the lenght of it.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

Not really important, but the story can make dynasty more interesting.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

No, a lot of people are following, just don't post.

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

A lot. It is really hard for me to follow the dynasty, which is too far from realism.

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

No, but it is nice.

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

Yes, it saves up some time for the reader, instead of reading thouse long recaps of the game, short recap and pics is good.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?

Short for a usual season game, long for chapters like in your dynasty about Minny franchise

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

Some story would be nice, not a big one that you concentrate most of it on this instead of the game

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

Yes

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

Ofcourse, realistic dynasties are interesting to follow, its shocking when mercer gets a triple double but when he does it 2-3 games in a row, it becomes BS.

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

Not really.

Thanks for the answers people! I will try not to let you down with my 07 dynasty (Y)

Re: Help For My Next Dynasty

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?
No. A couple here & there are good. Pictures are supplementary to the dynasty IMHO, not the main core of it. I'd prefer someone to take a bit of effort into presenting something quality with maybe one or two pics than just posting 15 pics from a game, as I tend not to waste my time checking out these dynasties. I guess I could understand if you're playing for the title, but otherwise, not really.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?
Shorter recaps.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?
No, not if you're talking a story like in your dynasty. I think the main thing a dynasty needs is continuity & some sort of features, mini stories or plot lines. Like "That Guy" subplots. Not major stories, just sub-stories that supplement the dynasty.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?
A combination of views & posts. High view to post ratios can either mean a lot of people follow the dynasty or you just don't update it much. If you're updating everyday, you're not going to get a 30 view to 1 post ratio. Whereas if you're updating twice a week, then 30 views per post is achievable. I run on a broad guideline that 10-15 views per post in an established dynasty as a sign that the dynasty is pretty successful.

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?
Yes. Realistic stats, give or take. Real crap teams not winning the championship or making the playoffs in their first year. Not trading more than a couple of players in first season. That's just me though, & a couple of others.

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?
Not a lot though. I've learnt that having NLSC players is mostly to add sub-plots to dynasties & shouldn't really be the core goal of the majority of dynasties (NLSC dynasties excluded). The main reason I had them was because I wanted to put myself in the game to live my life dream of playing in the NBA. It turns out a few other people wanted to be in as well. So not really necessary. I'd actually prefer to see the next Guy Dumars or Moses Chara than the next Makis Hassakis to tell you the truth

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?
I think that the pictures aren't so important, but it's good to have 3-4 nice images in a recap.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?
Dunno

- Do you think a story behind it is important?
It's not important, but it's really interesting, especially for me

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?
-Yeah
- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?
I think so

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?
It's fun having NLSC players, and i think that with the NLSC players more people will follow the dynasty

I'm sure that this will not only help me but it will help a lot of other posters. I just got a short survey here:

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?
I think 3 pictures per game are enough, but I really like designing banners, or different coverages.
- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?
I like to make it long, but it has to be exciting, just like on NBA.com.
Short is not always bad, but just giving facts is not cool.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?
Not important, but its cool to read
- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?
Yeah, I really think it is nice to at least answer one time if you follow it, but views are more important
- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?
Its all about realism imho, thats the most important factor.
- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?
no, I dont like it at all

To tell you guys the truth, the reason why i never have put NLSC players in mine is that... i dunno... i have a feeling i know u guys and it makes it a tad bit unrealistic for me lol... i dunno, maybe its just how i think!

nah, that's cool & understandable....I just like to put myself in games, doesn't matter if it's sports or Saints Row, I have to make myself  although when I do, I usually make myself a bench player....

Thu Sep 07, 2006 7:38 pm

- Do you think a lot of pictures is important?

No, maybe 4 at max is the ideal number of pictures.

- Do you like long (Long as in my type of long that i had in my old dynasty Here)/short recaps (shorter than my old dynasty)?

It all depends on how interesting it is. You can have a short recap, but it can be more interesting than one that is longer.

- Do you think a story behind it is important?

Dosen't really have to be a story behind it, unless it's a really good one.

- Replies in your thread is a good indicator of the people who follow it?

Like Andrew said.
"I'd say views are a better indictator. A lot of people read but don't really have anything to say except "Nice job" so they don't post."

- Does realism play a big part in dynasty?

Yes, definately.

- Does having NLSC players matter a lot?

No, Although I do enjoy reading about how I'm doing.

- Yeh X, I'm not dissing on the concept like, it's cool but it loses the novelty really quickly lol.. unless you done it good... but for me, I like to focus on my dynasty and not the NLSC players if you get what I mean...

Also, I see my name in your sig... dont worry, I want you to reserve the spot on your roster for me if you're playing Rec league at Auchey lol... It sounds fun. I will be training on my fitness and strength now lol And bad luck for your last game; we also had our best game in our season finale... lost to a team 33-27... the same team that beat us 97-7 at the start of the year. it shows how much we've improved as the other team was trying to win cause their number 3 seed was at risk... and if they had lost, they could have gone to 4th or missed the playoffs.
