Highfliers only do layups

Postby jwkfs on Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:24 pm

I've installed a new roster which I like very much and would love to continue using.

The catch is that something is messed up, and all highfliers will only perform layups when doing a FSS move. If you make the basket, the game confirms that the player did a FSS move by showing the little replay icon.

Players can dunk normally if they do not try to do a FSS move -- ie, the DUNKPACK value is correct.

I have loaded a different roster and confirmed that this only happens with this one roster.

Which .dbf file and which value should I be looking at editing to fix this? From the looks of things, almost all the .dbf files are for facial characteristics / stats, except for players.dbf, plays.dbf, teams.dbf, tmcareer.dbf, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help!

That sounds more like an aiact issue; do you have a custom one installed? Remember also that if you try to attempt a Highflyer dunk from too far out, the player will perform a layup instead.

I did a fresh install of the game earlier today, and after that installed only a couple rosters, the correct shoes mod, and the cyberfaces / portraits for some of the rookies. Looking back through all of the .zip files, I don't see any that contain a new aiact.viv, and the timestamp on the file seems to suggest that it's the original.

What strikes me as odd is that it only happens with this roster -- i can load the latest NLSC roster and highflyer dunks work fine.

I would post a link to the roster that I downloaded, but I can't seem to find it. It was posted as a link in one of the threads in the 06 Announcement section as a quick put-together of some of the new rookies.

That's odd. The only attribute in players.dbf that should affect that is the DUNKPACK and if they're all as they should be, it would have to be the aiact. :?

Yup, I replaced the aiact -- actually, all the files in the ai folder -- with the originals from the CD, just to make sure.
I reloaded the roster, and the same issue appears. Josh Smith will only perform layups when using the FSS, even though his dunk pack is set to 7 (I changed it to 9 with the same results) and his dunking ability is set to 97. Other highfliers that I checked showed the same problem with correct dunk packs.

I've uploaded the roster here (megaupload) in case anyone wants to take a look. It's a very strange occurance.
